Abstract

PURPOSE:To block a surge voltage entering through an alarm contact by incorporating an insulating transformer and detecting variation of primary current through a meter relay. CONSTITUTION:An insulating transformer 7 is arranged in an alarm unit and a meter relay 8a having movable contact 8b connected with a monitor 14 is built in on the primary. Variation of the primary current of the insulating transformer 7 is detected through the meter relay 8a and an abnormality is notified to the monitor 14 by opening or closing the movable contact 8b while furthermore a surge voltage entering through an alarm contact 12 is blocked by means of a surge absorber 11 and the insulating transformer 7. According to the invention, other machines connected with same power supply line and a monitor connected with the contact of meter relay can be protected against surge voltage.

[Problem to be Solved by the Invention] However, in power cable systems, when a ground fault occurs due to a lightning strike, the sheath arrester may be damaged by the high abnormal voltage induced in the metal sheath of the cable. It is possible that In such a power cable warning device that detects damage to the sheath arrester and notifies the user of an abnormality, it is possible that high surge voltage will always enter the system. In some cases, it may enter the power line through the power transformer, enter the monitoring device through the contacts of other devices or relays connected to the same power source, and may even damage these devices.

FIG. 2 is an example showing the relationship between the primary current flowing through the current/voltage meter relay at this time. For example, when the power supply voltage is 100 V and the alarm contact 12 is opened, the current flowing through the meter relay 8a becomes 18 mA. If the values of the variable resistor 10 and the shunt resistor 13 are set so that the alarm contact 7 is open, the change in the power flowing to the meter relay 8a in response to a change in the power supply voltage will be as shown by a curve 15a. Further, when the alarm contact 7 is in a closed state, the current changes as shown by a curve 15b. Therefore, the fluctuation range of the power supply voltage is
Considering that the voltage is about 0V to 108V, the operating setting value of the movable contact 8b of the meter relay should be 30mA. In addition, the movable contact of the meter relay can be adjusted arbitrarily, so if the local power supply voltage fluctuation range is 95V to 110V.
In this case, the operating setting value of the movable contact 8b of the meter relay may be set to 35 mA, and this can be adjusted to the actual situation of local voltage fluctuations.
