Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the safety of transportation by inserting an extracting machine to which an expansible and contractible holder of rubber expansible and contractible by water is installed into the bore space of a sponge iron cake of clay pipe form, and lifting the sponge iron cake by regulating the water pressure. CONSTITUTION:Expansible and contractible holders 4, 5 installed to an extracting machine 3 are formed of rubber bodies laid in contracted state by discharging water from cooling water pipe-lines 7, 8 by a vacuum pump. These holders are inserted to a sponge iron cake 2 of clay pipe form through a guide 6. The rubber bodies are expanded by injecting cooling water, and the cake 2 is held by both the expansible and contractible holders 4, 5 and carried. The holding force is strengthened by the frictional force between the cake 2 inner surface and the rubber bodies of the holders 4, 5. Thus, the lifting and carrying of the cake 2 are safely and certainly performed, and its release is also facilitated.

[Detailed Description of the Invention] <Industrial Application Field> The present invention is directed to an iron-containing raw material such as powdered iron ore or mill scale, which is obtained by filling a sagger container with a reducing agent and then firing and reducing it in a tunnel kiln. This invention relates to a method for handling a clay tube-shaped sponge iron cake.

As shown in Publication No. 87, an extractor with a claw at the tip was inserted into the inner diameter space of a clay pipe-shaped cotton iron, and the claw was mechanically expanded to slightly dig into the inner surface of the cake. Later, a method was adopted in which the sponge iron cake was lifted by lifting it with the extractor itself.

However, this technique has a problem with the durability (safety) of the pins that make up the claws. Repeated opening and closing of the bin can easily cause fatigue, and there have been cases of clay pipe-shaped sponge iron cakes breaking while being lifted and transported, resulting in accidents where the sponge iron cakes fall.

The biggest drawback is that the nails are slightly digging into the sponge iron cake, and the weight of the sponge iron cake is acting in the direction of opening the nails, so even if you close the nails and then try to pull it out and raise the keyaki, the nails will cut into the sponge iron cakes. It is important not to deviate from this. In practice, a complicated operation is required, in which the sponge iron cake is placed on a table to eliminate the effect of the weight of the sea iron cake, and then the extractor body is lowered slightly to push it in while closing the claws. This leads to difficulties and low productivity.

That is, the present invention is an earthen tube-shaped sponge obtained by filling a cylindrical refractory container called a sagger with a reducing agent and then firing and reducing the iron-containing material such as powdered iron ore or mill scale in a tunnel kiln. When handling the iron cake, an extractor equipped with a rubber expansion and contraction holder that can be expanded and contracted by water is inserted into the inner diameter space of the clay tube-shaped sponge iron cake, and the water pressure inside the expansion and contraction holder is adjusted. This is a method for handling a sponge iron cake, which is characterized by catching or releasing the clay tube-shaped sponge iron.

<Function> The rubber body of the expansion/contraction holder of the present invention can be easily expanded and contracted by sucking and discharging water. In other words, when it expands, it presses against the inner surface of the sponge iron cake, generating enough force to catch and lift the sponge iron cake.On the other hand, when it contracts, it instantly escapes from the inner surface of the cake, so if desired, the cake can be released from the suspended state. It is also possible to do so.

Therefore, unlike the conventional technology, the complicated operation of placing the sponge iron cake on the table and closing the claw while pushing the extractor body a little is not necessary, so it can be applied to the automation of handling of the sponge iron cake. Extremely advantageous.

Furthermore, in the present invention, after the sponge iron cake is taken out of the tunnel kiln, it is often not possible to cool it down more than necessary and it has to be treated at a relatively high temperature. The use of water instead of air made it even more advantageous. Since water has a stronger cooling effect than air, it is now possible to prevent the rubber body itself from deteriorating due to heat.

In addition, by preferably attaching two expansion/contraction holders, even if the expansion/contraction holder breaks while lifting the sponge iron cake, the sponge iron cake can be held by another expansion/contraction holder. Compared to the possibility of a cake falling accident when the cake breaks, the possibility of that happening can be reduced to almost zero.

First, the expansion/contraction holder 4.5 is the cooling water pipe 7 for the expansion/contraction holder.
.. Cooling water is discharged from 8 by a vacuum pump (not shown), and the deflated rubber body is inserted into the sponge iron cake 2 by a lifting device (not shown). At this time, it is preferable to replace the tip guide 6 at the tip of the extractor 3 with a diameter slightly larger than the deflated expansion and contraction holder and slightly smaller than the inner diameter of the sponge iron cake, thereby allowing smooth insertion.

After the expansion and contraction holders, in this case two expansion and contraction holders 4.5, have been inserted into the sponge iron cake 2, cooling water is supplied from the cooling water pipe 7.8 through the extraction rod 11 of the extraction machine 3. Once supplied, the expansion/contraction holder 4.5 will inflate instantly, and the expansion/contraction holder body will come into strong contact with the inner surface of the sponge iron cake, resulting in sufficient frictional force. In order to make this frictional force sufficient, a sufficient surface area of the rubber body of the expansion/contraction holder must be ensured, and the pressure of the supplied water must also be maintained above the calculated value.

If the extractor 1113 is raised in this state, the sponge iron cake 2 will be lifted up by the expansion/contraction holder 4.5 and easily extracted from the sagger container. Also, when dropping the sponge iron cake to any desired position after pulling it out, use the expansion/contraction holder 4.
This can be easily done in a short time by draining the water in step 5.

Furthermore, since the water introduced for expansion of the expansion/contraction holder also serves to cool the rubber body, it is also possible to handle relatively high temperature sponge iron cakes.

<Effects of the Invention> Regarding the handling of clay tube-shaped sponge iron cake obtained by firing in a tunnel kiln, the present invention departs from the conventional mechanical wind hooking method and uses a rubber body called an expansion/contraction holder. Since the friction force method is based on expansion and contraction, the cake can be lifted and transported safely and reliably, and the cake can also be released easily.

Furthermore, two expansion/contraction holders can be connected in series to prevent cake falling accidents due to breakage of one expansion/contraction holder. In addition, since the expansion and contraction of the expansion/contraction holder is caused by water instead of air, it is now possible to handle sponge iron cakes that are in a relatively high temperature state without worrying about the rubber body deteriorating due to heat. Therefore, it is possible to escape from the conventional low productivity such as long cooling time.
