Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent damage of a magnetic disk made of glass by inserting an elastic member such as rubber between the disk and a ring spacer so that the elastic material absorbs impact between the disk and the ring spacer. CONSTITUTION:In the disk device, glass magnetic disks 2-6 are mounted on a spindle motor 1, and arms each having a magnetic head for writing and reading information are provided to both surfaces of the disks 2-6. These arms are supported by carriages. Also, ring spacers 18-21 are provided for each space between the magnetic disks 2-6, and further elastic members are provided between the disks 2-6 and ring spacers 18-21. Thereby, the magnetic disks 2-6 do not directly touch the ring spacers, and stress applied on the glass magnetic disks 2-6 is absorbed by the elastic members 22-29. Thus, damage on the magnetic disks 2-6 can be prevented.

(Prior Art) In a conventional magnetic disk drive, a plurality of magnetic disks are installed in a spindle motor for rotating the magnetic disks at high speed, and the disks are screwed from above with a disk holder. In order to hold the plurality of magnetic disks at regular intervals, metal ring spacers are alternately installed between the magnetic disks.

In recent years, in order to improve the recording density of magnetic disks, glass materials that can provide more mirror surfaces have been increasingly used as substrates. However, in the case of such magnetic disk drives, the glass magnetic disk is rotated at high speed in direct contact with the metal ring spacer, so the problem is that the magnetic disk is easily damaged by collision with the metal ring spacer. was there.

(Problem to be Solved by the Invention) As detailed above, in a conventional magnetic disk device using a glass magnetic disk, the magnetic disk is rotated at high speed while directly in contact with a metal ring spacer. However, there was a problem in that if the pressure applied to the magnetic disk was too large, it would easily break.

[Structure of the Invention] (Means for Solving the Problems) The magnetic disk device of the present invention is characterized in that a sheet made of an elastic material such as rubber is provided between the ring spacer and the magnetic disk. Among elastic materials, urethane rubber is particularly suitable.

(Function) In the magnetic disk device of the present invention, by sandwiching an elastic material such as rubber between the magnetic disk and the ring spacer,
The configuration is such that the magnetic disk does not come into direct contact with the ring spacer. Therefore, even if the stress applied to the glass magnetic disk is large, the sheet made of an elastic material absorbs the stress and can prevent damage to the magnetic disk.
