Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the performance and efficiency of a waterproof hermetic treating operation by fitting and fixing two adapter rings of a U shaped section to the outer periphery of the one end face of an existing multiple optical fiber housing device. CONSTITUTION:The die parts formed by rotating the U shape of the boss parts 3, 3 of two C-shaped adapter rings 1, 1 90 deg. counterclockwise are fitted to the outer periphery of the end face plate 101 to fix the annular adapter ring constituted of the two C-shaped adapter rings 1, 1 to the outer periphery of the end face plate 101. The C-shaped ring at one end of the hermetic sheet 61 is wound around the rim part 2 of the adapter rings 1, 1 and the L shaped ring at one end of the hermetic sheet 61 is fitted to the rim part 2 of the adapter rings 1, 1. The other end is wound around the end plate mounted to a cable C1 and thereafter, female and male fasteners 65, 67 are coupled to each other. The one end of the hermetic sheet 61 is hermetically fitted and fixed to the end face plate via the adapter rings 1, 1 and the other end of the hermetic sheet 61 is directly fitted and fixed to the end plate mounted to the optical fiber cable. The resealing operation, etc., of the hermetically connected part are facilitated in this way.

[Prior art and issues] Connection work for communication cables involves connecting hundreds of core wires, so it takes a long time to make one connection, so it is necessary to temporarily interrupt the work and leave it in a temporary connection state. This is often treated with a temporary waterproof and airtight treatment. In this case, it is necessary to break the temporary seal in order to resume connection work.

If the work cannot be completed after restarting, waterproofing and airtight treatment will be performed again. The fact that it takes a long time to dismantle and reseal the temporary connection significantly affects the efficiency of the cable connection work. If the material used for this temporary waterproofing and airtight treatment cannot be reused due to disassembly of the temporary joint, the cost of materials for re-waterproofing and airtighting cannot be ignored. Under these circumstances, efforts have been made to enable repeated use of materials as much as possible and to simplify temporary waterproofing and airtight treatment and disassembly of temporary connections. An example of this type is shown in FIGS. 5 and 6 (Japanese Patent Application No. 88284/1999).

Furthermore, a multicore optical fiber storage device is conventionally known (Japanese Utility Model Application Publication No. 2-64902). The structure of this device is schematically shown in Figure 7. Both ends of the connector are fitted and fixed to the end plates identified at the ends of the left and right optical fiber cables, and the optical fiber connector is covered with the connector. It is something to protect.

When applying the above-mentioned prerequisite technology for fiber splicing work to an existing optical fiber multi-core line connection section, after removing the connection word of the existing optical fiber multi-core line storage device, attach both end plates of the pre-requisite technology respectively. Then, put an airtight sheet 6 on this end plate.
1. The protective cover 91 must be fitted and installed. This is because the airtight sheet 61 and protective cover 9 are the basic technologies.
This is because the size of 1 is much larger than the size of the conjunction.

[Function] The adapter ring is a halved ring with a cross section of ``] type, and its inner diameter is equal to the outer diameter of the end plate of the optical fiber multifilament storage device, and the outer diameter is equal to the outer diameter of one end of the airtight sheet of the underlying technology. Since an adapter ring having the same inner diameter is fitted and fixed to the end plate, one end of the airtight sheet is airtightly fitted and fixed to the end plate via the adapter ring. The other end of the airtight sheet is
Like the underlying technology, it is directly fitted and fixed to the end plate attached to the optical fiber cable. The position of this end plate can be arbitrarily selected according to the length of the airtight sheet, so regardless of the distance between the end plates of the existing optical fiber multicore storage device,
A general size airtight sheet and protective cover can be used.

In this example, the radius R□ of the inner surface of the mouth portion of the boss portion is 66 strokes, and the radius R2 of the outer surface of the rim portion is 116 mm. In this embodiment, the reason why the C-shaped adapter ring has a boss portion and a rim portion is to reduce the weight of the split ring and save material.

Note that it is also possible to attach adapter rings to both left and right end plates of an existing optical fiber multicore storage device, and to fit and fix both ends of the airtight sheet to both end plates, respectively. This has the advantage that both left and right end plates in the base technology can be omitted. However, in this case, the distance between the end plates and the length of the airtight sheet etc. must match.
The disadvantage is that a general-purpose item cannot be used. In contrast, the present invention has the great advantage that a general-purpose sized airtight sheet or the like can be applied to any optical fiber multicore storage device, regardless of its size.
