PURPOSE:To adjust an illumination direction properly regardless of any inclination and curvature of a rear window glass by forming a transparent housing and a light source out of flexible members, and installing the light source rotatably for the housing. CONSTITUTION:An auxiliary stop lamp 1 is installed on the cabin interior side of a rear window glass 10 of an automobile, and its housing 2 is formed with a transparent flexible resin member in an approximately cylindrical shape. The outline of its cross section is formed, for example, into a water-drop type. A flat surface 2a of its outline can be assembled on the rear window glass 10 by an appropriate means such as adhesion. る点は従来例のものと同様であるが、ハウジング2は透
明かつ可撓性を有する樹脂部材などで略筒状に形成され
ると共に、その断面の外形を例えば第2図に示すように
水滴型に形成され、前記外形の平坦面2aで接着など適
宜な手段により前記リアウィンドガラス10に直接に取
付けられるものとなっている。 また、光源3は同様に可撓性を有する基板3aと、該基
板3a上に列状に搭載された複数の発光素子3b例えば
LEDとで成るものとされ、前記ハウジング2の両端の
開口部2bに被着されるキャップ4に軸支されるなどし
て、このハウジング2に対して略同軸に回動可能に取付
けられるものとされている。 ここで、前記ハウジング2について更に詳細に説明すれ
ば、上記構成とされたことで前記ハウジング2は筒状の
軸に直交する断面では全て同一形状で良いものとなり、
例えば押出成形などの手段で形成が可能となり、予めに
長尺のものを形成しておき使用に当たり必要長さに切断
するなど生産性の向上が図れるものとすることができる
。 その反面で、前記した押出成形で形成するときには前記
ハウジング2は筒状の軸に沿う方向でのレンズカットは
自在であるが、軸に直交する方向でのレンズカットは不
可能となり、特に左右方向に照射角が広いことが要求さ
れるこの種の補助ストップランプ1の配光特性上に不満
を生ずる可能性がある。 本発明は上記の事態に対応するためにインナーレンズ5
を採用するものであり、この実施例においては、前記イ
ンナーレンズ5は前記ハウジング2と同様に透明かつ可
撓性を有する部材を用いてレンズカッ)5aが施された
状態で平板状に形成され、前記ハウジング2の内径に設
けられたリブ2Cに湾曲させて係着することで前記イン
ナーレンズ5の弾性を利用して取付けられるものとなっ
ている。 このときに、前記で説明したように光源3はハウジング
2に対して回動自在とされて両者2.3の相互位置が変
化するものとなるので、その回動補正手段として前記イ
ンナーレンズ5の設けられる範囲は、少なくとも前記光
源3の回動の範囲を覆うものとされる。 次いで、以上の構成とした補助ストップランプ1の作用
効果について説明すれば、本発明により前記ハウジング
2を初めとして光源3、インナーレンズ5が可撓性を有
する部材により形成されるものとしたことで、この補助
ストップランプ1はリアウィンドガラス10の曲率に沿
わせて湾曲させることが自在となるので、どのような形
状のリアウィンドガラス10にも直接に取付けることが
可能となり、更にリアウィンドガラス1oの傾斜角の相
違は前記光源3の回動で補正されるものとなるが、この
ときに前記インナーレンズ5が光源3の回動節回を全て
覆うものとされていることで配光特性の変動を生ずるこ
とが無い。 第3図に示すものは本発明の別の実施例であり、前の実
施例が回動補正手段としてインナーレンズ5をハウジン
グ2側に固定し、光源3の回動に対処するために配設範
囲を延長していたのに対し、この実施例の回動補正手段
は、第4図に示すようにインナーレンズ6に爪部θaを
形成し、光源3の基板3aに固定させたものであり、こ
のようにすることで前記光源3の回動によりインナーレ
ンズ6も共に回動するものとなり、その回動の程度に係
わらず配光特性は保たれるものとなる。 尚、上記以外の作用効果は前の実施例と同様であるので
、ここでの詳細な説明は省略する。

助ストップランプを提供可能なものとするものであり、

ウジングに対する光源の回動に対応する回動補正手段を
設けたことで、前記した回動による照射方向の調整を行
ったときにも規定の配光特性が得られるようにし、以て
この種の補助ストップランプの標準化を可能として、生
産面、販売面における合理化の促進に極めて優れた効果
を奏するものである。
