Paper feeding devices that use a feed roller and a separation member to separate paper feeds are increasing in number. This is because the paper separation performance is better than the conventional method that uses separation claws in the paper cassette.

If the coefficient of friction between the separation member and the paper is μ 2 and the coefficient of friction between the paper and the paper is μ 3 , then when μ 1 > μ 2 > μ 3 holds, there are multiple sheets of paper between the feed roller and the separation member. Even if sheets are being fed, only one sheet of paper in contact with the feed roller is conveyed, and the other sheets are stopped in place by the separating member. In other words, it is generally known that paper feed separation occurs here. The separation member is shaped like a roller and is prevented from rotating, but there are also square ones and roller-shaped ones that are rotatable. However, the latter has the drawback that the μ 2 is unstable.

難だつた。 Furthermore, since static electricity generated on the paper strengthens the binding force between the paper sheets and reduces the separation performance, the contact pressure between the feed roller and the separation member must be strong enough to obtain a conveyance force. However, if this pressure becomes excessive, the separation member scrapes the paper and generates paper dust, so this pressure must not become excessive. Normally, this pressure has a narrow tolerance range and must be operated stably. Therefore, it was difficult to replace the separation member.

Therefore, the pressure with which the μ 2 feed roller and the separation member are pressed fluctuates, making it impossible to maintain stable separation performance for a long period of time.

There is a drawback that paper remains.

The present invention provides a paper feeding device using a feed roller and a separating member, in which a swinging member to which a separating member is attached is swung according to the mounting state of a paper cassette, so that the feeding roller and the separating member are brought into contact only when the paper cassette is mounted. By doing so, it is possible to eliminate the problem of paper remaining inside the recording device when the paper cassette is removed, and to maintain the paper separation performance of the paper feeding device stably for a long period of time.

A latent charge image is formed by exposure with a laser beam 4 from 3, and this latent charge image is developed by a developing device 5 into a visible image (toner image). Paper 7 stored in paper cassettes 6a and 6b (paper cassette 6a is in use in FIG. 1) is pulled out by paper feed roller 8a, passed between feed roller 9a and separation roller 10a, and then transported. The photosensitive drum 1 is connected to the photosensitive drum 1 via a path 11.
The toner image on the photosensitive drum is transferred onto the paper 7 by applying a transfer bias using the transfer device 12 . The paper 7 on which the toner image has been transferred is thermally fixed when passing through a heat fixing roller 13 and is discharged to a paper discharge tray 14 .

is provided with a square engagement protrusion 10c on its end surface,
This engaging protrusion 10c engages with a notch 15a formed in the swinging member 15. Spring seats 19 and 20 are provided on opposing surfaces of the swinging member 15 and the holding member 18, and a first spring 2 is provided between the spring seats 19 and 20.
The swinging member 15 is rotated in a direction (clockwise in FIG. 3) to compress and house the separation roller 10a and press the separation roller 10a against the feed roller 9a. The pull-back pin 22 is supported by the holding member 18 so as to be able to move in the axial direction, and by compressing and storing the second spring 23, a thrust force in the right direction in FIG. 3 is applied. The left end of the pull-back pin 22 engages with the swinging member 15 by a plastic washer 24 and an E-ring 25, and the swinging member 15 is pulled back against the rotational force of the first spring 21. The right end of the pull-back pin 22 protrudes to the mounting position of the paper cassette 6a, and when the paper cassette 6a is mounted in the paper feeding state, it is pushed back against the second spring 23 and the swinging member 15 moves to the first spring. 21 to allow rotation.

When a is pulled out to the non-feeding state, the right end of the pull-back pin 22 is free, so the pull-back pin 22 is moved rightward in FIG. 3 by the second spring 23. Therefore, the swinging member 15 rotates counterclockwise about the pin 16 against the first spring 21 to move the separation roller 10a to the feed roller 9.

る。 On the other hand, when using the paper cassette 6a, the paper cassette 6a is inserted by being pushed in as shown in FIG. At this time, the tip of the paper cassette 6a comes into contact with the right end of the pull-back pin 22 and pushes the pin to the left against the second spring 23. As a result, the swinging member 15 is rotated clockwise by the first spring 21, and the separation roller 10a is rotated clockwise by the first spring 21.
Press onto a. The contact pressure at this time is the spring 21
Determined by the elongation force. Then, the paper 7 is fed out from the paper cassette 6a by the paper feed roller 8a.
If the sheets are fed double, they will be separated when they pass between the feed roller 9a and the separation roller 10a, and only the upper sheet will be sent to the paper conveyance path 11.

The member 15 is allowed to rotate counterclockwise by the spring 21. For this reason, the separation roller 10a separates from the feed roller 9a, and therefore, even if there is paper 7 that was held between the feed roller 9a and the separation roller 10a at this time, the holding force is released and it is taken out together with the paper cassette 6a. be able to.

As described above, the present invention allows the swinging member to which the separating member is attached to swing depending on the mounting state of the paper cassette, so that when the paper cassette is mounted, the separating member is brought into contact with the feed roller, and when the paper cassette is removed, Since the separation member is configured to be separated from the feed roller, it is possible to eliminate paper residue when the paper cassette is taken out.
