Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it unnecessary to attach independent connector receptacles for electricity and light by constituting the center portion of a photoelectric receptacle of an optical fiber and a center conductor having the optical fiber as its core and formed into the shape of a cylinder. CONSTITUTION:The center conductor 12 of an electric connector plug 10 joined is positioned by a dielectric 13 and brought into contact with the end face of the center conductor 2 of a photoelectric receptacle 6. In this case, an optical fiber 1 is located slightly deeper than the end face of the conductor 2 in order to protect the end face of the fiber 1. The external conductor 14 of the plug 10 is locked by a protrusion 5 and electrically connected to a conductor 4. The ferrule 22 of an optical connector plug 20 fitted has the same diameter as the center conductor 2 of the photoelectric receptacle 6 and is therefore positioned by a dielectric 23 and brought into contact with the end face of the conductor 2 and then the fiber 1 serving as the core of the ferrule 22 is made to abut on the center conductor 12 whereby optical signals can be transmitted and received. An external conductor 24 is locked by the protrusion 5 and electrically connected to the conductor 4.

[Means for Solving the Problems] According to the present invention, a central portion having at least one of an optical fiber and an electric conductor, a cylindrical conductor coaxially surrounding the central portion, and a cylinder coaxially surrounding the dielectric. A photoelectric/electronic receptacle is obtained in which the central portion is comprised of an optical fiber and a central conductor formed in a cylindrical shape with the optical fiber as a core.

[Effects of the Invention] As explained above, the photoelectric connector receptacle of the present invention can transmit and receive both electricity and light by fitting with either an electrical connector plug or an optical connector plug, so it can transmit both electrical signals and optical signals. In the case of equipment, it is not necessary to separately install both electrical and optical connector receptacles, which has the effect of reducing the mounting area of the connector.
