Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the rate of operation of an incinerating facility by a method wherein a mixing arm is wrapped with refractory castable and the upper end of a mixing rod, covered by a tube made of ceramics, is attached to the mixing arm with a pin while the head of the pin is embedded into the refractory castable. CONSTITUTION:In a mixing device, the outer surfaces of a mixing arm 6 and a mixing rod 7 are coated with refractory castable 9 and a tube 10 made of ceramics whereby the metallic parts in the mixing device will never be contacted directly with corrosive high-temperature atmosphere and corrosion of the same can be prevented. The mixing rod 7 is attached detachably to the mixing arm 6 through a pin 12 and, therefore, the mixing rod 7 can be replaced easily when the mixing rod 7 is deteriorated by the use of a long period of time. Further, the head of the pin 12 is embedded into the refractory castable 9 whereby contact with corrosive high-temperature atmosphere can be prevented. The mixing device is provided with a hardly corroded structure in such a manner and whereby the usable life of the mixing device can be elongated.

However, in conventional stirring devices of this type, both the stirring arm and the stirring rod were made of corrosion-resistant stainless steel, which caused corrosive atmospheric gas to fill the furnace, especially when incinerating marine life. However, corrosion and thinning due to high temperature oxidation and chlorine compounds occurred. In addition, when the frame of the incinerator burner hit the stirring device, the structure of the stainless steel became coarse and its strength decreased, and the stirring rod was damaged in a short period of time.
