Abstract

PURPOSE:To attain a compact and light-weight lock mechanism by using a shape memory alloy to a drive part. CONSTITUTION:One of two ends of an energizable shape memory alloy spring 4 is supported by a plate 8a with the other end supported by a lever 2a respectively. Then one of both ends of a spring 6 is supported by the lever 2a with the other end supported by the plate 8a at the side opposite to the spring 4. A lock arm 13 is fixed to a shaft 11a. In such a constitution, the lever 2a is pulled by the spring 6 when a power supply is turned off and the position of the arm 13 is kept as it is with the force of a permanent magnet 7. When a current is supplied to the spring 4 via a lead wire 1, the spring 4 restores a memory shape and the lever 2a is pulled by the shape restoring force to actuate the arm 13 via the shaft 11a. Thus a compact and light-weight lock mechanism is obtained.
