Description
本発明はロイコ染料を発色剤とする感熱記録材
料の改良に関するものである。
感熱記録材料は一般に紙、合成紙、プラスチツ
クフイルム等の支持体上に熱発色性組成物を主成
分とする感熱発色層を設けたもので、熱ヘツド、
熱ペン、レーザー光等で加熱することにより発色
画像が得られる。この種の記録材料は他の記録材
料に比べて現象、定着等の煩雑な処理を施すこと
なく、比較的簡単な装置で短時間に記録が得られ
ること、騒音の発生及び環境汚染が少ないこと、
コストが安いことなどの利点により、図書、文書
などの複写に用いられる他、プリンター、フアク
シミリ、券売機、ラベル、レコーダーなど多方面
に亘る記録材料として広く利用されている。この
ような感熱記録材料に用いられる熱発色性組成物
は一般に発色剤と、この発色剤を熱時発色せしめ
る顕色剤とからなり、発色剤としては、例えば、
ラクトン、ラクタム又はスピロピラン環を有する
無色又は淡色のロイコ染料が、また顕色剤として
は各種の酸性物質、例えば有機酸やフエノール性
物質が用いられている。この発色剤と顕色剤とを
組合せた記録材料は特に得られる画像の色調が鮮
明であり、かつ地肌の白色度が高く、しかも画像
(染料画像)の耐侯性が優れているという利点を
有し、広く利用されている。
しかし、近年、感熱記録方式が従来の他の記録
方式にとつて代り、需要が増大するにつれて、こ
の方式に用いられる感熱記録材料の品質向上に対
する要求も高まつてきており、特に、画像の油脂
類や指紋などに対する安定性が大きな問題となつ
てきている。ところで、前述のような感熱記録材
料の品質に影響を及ぼす材料としては発色剤、顕
色剤及びこれらを結着又は保護する結着剤、その
他の助剤(例えば、分散剤、顔料)が挙げられる
が、中でも影響が大きいのは顕色剤である。従
来、顕色剤としては発色性の優れているものとし
てビスフエノールAが一般に使用されてきたが、
ビスフエノールAは反面、油脂類、例えば、オリ
ーブ油、サラダ油などが付着すると、付着した部
分の画像が消えるという問題、並びに指紋跡の画
像が消えるという画像の不安定性の問題があるこ
とは当業者間では周知のことである。
本発明者らは、前記のような問題のない顕色剤
を開発すべく鋭意研究を重ねた結果、スルホン酸
無水物又はスルホン酸とカルボン酸の混合酸無水
物がその目的に適合することを見出し、本発明を
完成するに到つた。
即ち、本発明によれば、ロイコ染料に対する顕
色剤として、スルホン酸無水物又はスルホン酸と
カルボン酸の混合酸無水物を用いたことを特徴と
するロイコ染料を発色剤とする感熱記録材料が提
供される。
本発明で用いる顕色剤は、常温で安定で存在す
る水不溶性のスルホン酸無水物又はスルホン酸と
カルボン酸の混合酸無水物である。この場合、ス
ルホン酸無水物には、2種のスルホン酸の混合酸
無水物が含まれる。スルホン酸無水物としては、
常温で安定に存在する実質的に水不溶性の有機ス
ルホン酸無水物であれば、脂肪族系及び芳香族系
を問わず適用される。また、スルホン酸とカルボ
ン酸の混合酸無水物の場合においても、同様に、
そのカルボン酸としては、脂肪族系及び芳香族系
を問わず適用できる。このような酸無水物の具体
例としては、例えば、p−トルエンスルホン酸無
水物、p−クロルベンゼンスルホン酸無水物、o
−クロルベンゼンスルホン酸無水物、ナフタレン
スルホン酸無水物、メタンスルホン酸無水物、エ
タンスルホン酸無水物等のスルホン酸無水物の
他、アセチル−p−トルエンスルホネート、プロ
ピオニル−p−トルエンスルホネート、フエニル
アセチル−p−トルエンスルホネート、ベンゾイ
ル−p−トルエンスルホネート、イソブチロイル
−p−トルエンスルホネート、アセチル−p−ク
ロロベンゼンスルホネート、フエニルアセチル−
p−クロロベンゼンスルホネート、ベンゾイル−
p−クロロベンゼンスルホネート、イソブチロイ
ル−p−クロロベンゼンスルホネート、p−クロ
ロベンゾイル−p−クロロベンゼンスルホネート
の混合酸無水物が挙げられる。これらのものは単
独又は2種以上の混合物の形で適用される。この
ような顕色剤はロイコ染料1重量部に対し1〜5
重量部の割合で好ましく使用される。
本発明におけるロイコ染料としては従来より感
圧紙や感熱紙に対して用いられてきたものがいず
れも適用でき、トリフエニルメタン系、フルオラ
ン系、フエノチアジン系、オーラミン系、スピロ
ピラン系のものが好ましく適用される。これらの
ロイコ染料の具体例を以下に示す。

なお、本発明においては、前記ロイコ染料及び
酸無水物を支持体上に結合支持させるため、慣用
の種々の結合剤を適宜用いることは差しつかえな
く、例えば、ポリビニルアルコール、変性ポリビ
ニルアルコール、でん粉、酸化でん粉、アルデヒ
ド化でん粉、ゼラチン、カゼイン、ヒドロキシエ
チルセルローズ、ヒドロキシプロピルセルロー
ズ、メチルセルローズ、ポリアクリルアミド、ポ
リアクリル酸、カルボキシメチルセルローズ、ポ
リビニルピロリドン、ポリエチレングリコール、
アルギン酸ソーダ、イソブチレン−無水マレイン
酸共重合体アルカリ付加物、ジイソブチレン−無
水マレイン酸共重合体アルカリ付加物等の水溶性
樹脂の他、ポリ酢酸ビニル、ポリアクリル酸エス
テル、ポリエチレン、スチレン−ブタジエン共重
合体、エチレン−酢酸ビニル共重合体、ポリウレ
タン、ポリブチルメタクリレート等の水性エマル
ジヨン等がある。
また本発明においては、慣用の補助添加剤、例
えば、填料、界面活性剤、滑剤、酸化防止剤等が
用いられる。この場合、填料としては、尿素−ホ
ルマリン樹脂、メラミン樹脂、ポリスチレン、ポ
リカーボネート、ポリイミド、フタロシアニン化
合物等の有機系のもの、及び炭酸カルシウム、炭
酸バリウム、シリカ、水酸化アルミニウム、水酸
化亜鉛、フツ化亜鉛、クレー、タルク、酸化亜
鉛、酸化チタン、アルミナ、マグネシア等の無機
系のものが挙げられ、滑剤としては、ステアリン
酸亜鉛、ステアリン酸カルシウム、ステアリン酸
マグネシウム、ステアリン酸アルミニウム、ステ
アリン酸バリウム等の高級脂肪酸金属塩、動物性
ワツクス、鉱物性ワツクス、石油系ワツクス、植
物性ワツクス、高級脂肪酸及びそのエステルやア
ミド等が挙げられる。
本発明の感熱記録材料は、種々の構造のものと
することができ、ロイコ染料と顕色剤との間の発
色反応を利用する従来知られている構造のものは
全て包含される。例えば、本発明の感熱記録材料
は、支持体上に、ロイコ染料と顕色剤とを同一の
塗布層又は別個の塗布層として支持させた構造の
感熱記録材料や、ロイコ染料を転写層として支持
体に支持させて形成した転写シートと、顕色剤を
受容層として支持体に支持させた受容シートとか
らなる熱転写型の感熱記録材料として利用するこ
とができる。熱転写型の感熱記録材料の場合、転
写シートに対して、受容シートをその受容層が転
写シートの転写層に接するようにして重ね、その
重合シートの表面又は裏面から熱印字することに
より受容シートの受容層面に所望の発色画像を形
成させることができる。
本発明の感熱記録材料は、例えば、前記した各
成分を含む感熱層形成用塗液を、紙、合成紙、プ
ラスチツクフイルムなどの適当な支持体上に塗布
し、乾燥することによつて製造され、各種の記録
分野、殊に、高速記録用の感熱記録材料として利
用される。
本発明の感熱記録材料は、さらに、その表面に
保護層を設けたり、表面をカレンダー処理するこ
とができる。
本発明の感熱記録材料は、従来のものと同様に
熱ヘツドにより加熱することによつて発色させる
ことが可能であり、得られる発色画像は非常に安
定性がよく、耐油性、耐脂肪性、耐可塑剤性、耐
溶剤性等においてすぐれたものである。なお、酸
無水物は常温では顕色能を示さず、加熱によつて
顕色能を示すようになる。その理由は明らかでは
ないが、加熱により酸無水物の加水分解が促進さ
れ、その結果、顕色能を示すようになるものと考
えられる。
本発明の感熱記録材料は、種々の分野において
利用されるが、殊に、前記した優れた発色画像安
定性を利用し、感熱記録型ラベルシートや、感熱
記録型磁気券紙として有利に利用することができ
る。感熱記録型ラベルシートの場合、支持体の一
方の面に、前記したロイコ染料と顕色剤を含有す
る感熱発色層を設け、支持体の他方の面に、接着
剤層を介して剥離台紙を設ければよく、磁気券紙
の場合は、この剥離台紙に代えて、強磁性体と結
着剤とを主成分とする磁気記録層を設ければよ
い。
以下に本発明の実施例を示す。なお部、%はそ
れぞれ重量部、重量%である。
実施例 1
常法により下記の分散液A〜Cを調製した。

以上のようにして得られたA液、B液、C液
と、スチレン/ブタジエン共重合体ラテツクス
(40%)12.5部を混合し、1時間撹拌した後、1
日静置し、坪量約50g/m2の上質紙上に、ラボコ
ーテイングロツドで乾燥付着量6g/m2となるよ
う塗布乾燥して感熱発色層を設け、感熱記録紙を
作成した。この感熱記録紙の性能評価試験を行
い、その評価結果を下記表−1に示す。
なお、表−1において、最高濃度とは、熱傾斜
試験機を用いて、150℃、1秒間印字した時の画
像濃度を示し、その濃度はマクベス濃度計(RD
−514)を用いた。また、耐油性は、綿実油を画
像部に塗布して評価し、耐指性も同様に指紋を押
しつけて評価した。耐アルコール性、耐MC性
(耐メチルセロソルブ性)もそれらの各溶剤をう
すく画像部に塗布して評価した。耐可剤性は画像
表面にポリ塩化ビニルのラツプフイルムを重ね。
10Kg荷重をかけ1日後に評価した。
