Abstract

PURPOSE:To effectively prevent the generation of smells of water soluble organic solvents and various chemicals containing the water soluble organic solvents by comprising a benzophenone compound, more preferably, a benzophenone compound represented by the general formula. CONSTITUTION:Deodorants for water soluble organic solvents include benzophenone compounds having structures of compounds A-G. These benzophenone compounds may be used alone or in combination of two kinds or more. Although the deodorants for water soluble organic solvent are effective for individual water soluble organic solvents, they show particularly remarkable deodorizing effect on aqueous solutions containing the water soluble organic solvents.

As a means to prevent this odor, methods include distilling water-soluble organic solvents immediately before use to remove odor substances, and treating water-soluble organic solvents or aqueous solutions and chemicals containing water-soluble organic solvents with activated carbon to remove odor substances. Methods such as physically adsorbing odor, and adding fragrance to water-soluble organic solvents or chemicals containing water-soluble organic solvents to make bad odors less noticeable have been considered and are actually being implemented.

The deodorant for water-soluble organic solvents of the present invention is basically poorly soluble in water, but due to the presence of the water-soluble organic solvent, it can be dissolved in extremely small amounts, and is effective even when dissolved in O, lppm. If the amount of dissolved water is further increased by using a water-soluble organic solvent, the effect will be even greater. The amount dissolved varies depending on the type and content of the water-soluble organic solvent used in combination, but it does not necessarily have to be completely dissolved, and an excess amount may be contained.

The deodorant for water-soluble organic solvents of the present invention exhibits a particularly remarkable deodorizing effect when the water-soluble organic solvent contains a glycol ether organic solvent and an alkanolamine at the same time. In other words, the present inventors found that chemical products containing glycol ether-based water-soluble organic solvents and alkanolamines at the same time generate extremely strong odor, but when used together with the deodorant for water-soluble organic solvents of the present invention, the odor is significantly reduced. It turned out that it does.
