られている現像装置を表す正断面図である0図に示すよ
うにこのような現像装置1aは、感光体2(この場合感
光ドラム)に平行に近接し、その軸心回りに回転駆動さ
れる(回転方向は矢印Xであられされる〉アル6円筒等
よりなる現像スリーブ3と、上記現像スリーブ3内に設
けられ、複数の磁極を保持する磁石保持部材4と、上記
現像スリーブ3に近接して固定的に設けられる透磁率セ
ンサ5aとを具備している。ここにNl、S2゜N3.
S4.S3.N2,31は夫々上記磁石保持部材に取り
付けられた磁石の極性とその中心を示すもので、N1は
主極、52.N3.S4は搬送極、S3は現像材剥離用
の極、N2,31は汲み上げ極である。 上記透磁率センサ5aは穂切り板に設けられている。ま
た上記透磁率センサ5aと対向するガイド板7は穂切り
された先端側現像剤を案内するもので整流Fi、8. 
8.・・・を具備する戻し板9と一体的に形成されてい
る。 上記整流板8はガイド板7とより戻されてきた現像剤を
現像スリーブ3の軸方向へ偏向させるために、図の紙面
に対して若干傾斜して前記戻し板9上に取り付けられて
いる。 上記戻し板9により戻されてきた現像剤は撹拌ローラ1
0により撹拌され、搬送ローラ(1)により前記現像ス
リーブ3に戻される。このような撹拌ローラ10.tl
)送ローラ(1)が剤供給手段を構成している。 上記のような現像装置1aのtit戒要素は現像ケーシ
ング12に囲まれている。但し上記現像ケーシング12
は前記主極及びその近傍に該当する部分に現像開口部C
が形成されている。 〔発明が解決しようとする課題〕 上記のような従来の現像ケーシング12では現像スリー
ブ3が矢印Xの方向に高速で回転した時、現像ケーシン
グ12内外の圧力差が生じ、前記搬送極S2と、これに
対向する現像ケーシング12との間の隙間すから現像剤
が吹き出すという問題点がある。特開昭58−1639
69号公報に記載された乾式現像装置は係る問題点を解
消するためのもので、上記現像剤の吹き出し部にウレタ
ンフオーム等よりなる弾性を有するシール部材を取り付
けている。 しかし本発明者の実験によれば、上記のようなシール部
材ではその部分に現像剤が付着して蓄積し、これが塊と
なって時折外部に噴出するという欠点を回避することが
できなかった。 従って本発明の目的とするところは、上記のような現像
剤の吹き出しを解消しつつ、同時に現像剤の蓄積が生じ
ないようにした現像ケーシングの構造を提供することで
ある。 〔課題を解決するための手段〕 上記目的を達成するために本発明は、感光体に隣接して
設けられ、少なくとも上記感光体に対向する主極と、こ
の主極に隣接する搬送極とを固定的に保持する磁石保持
部材と、上記磁石保持部材のまわりで回転する現像スリ
ーブと、上記現像スリーブにylA像剤を供給する剤供
給手段と、上記主極及びその近傍に該当する現像開口部
を除き、上記現像スリーブ及び剤供給手段を簡繞する現
像ケーシングとを少なくとも具備してなる現像装置にお
いて、上記現像開口部の上記主極と、該主極に隣接する
搬送極との間の現像ケーシング端部の現像スリーブに対
向する端部壁面を現像スリーブに比較的近接せしめると
共に、上記端部壁面に隣接して上記搬送極に対向する搬
送極対向壁面に凹所を形成して現像スリーブから比較的
隔離せしめたことを特徴とする現像装置としてtIll
aされている。 〔作用〕。 従って、現像ケーシングの現像開口部の端部の形状がこ
の部分の現像スリーブに付着した現像剤の形状に沿った
ものとなり、且つ現像ケーシングの一部で全て構成され
ているので、現像剤の溜まりを生じず、同時に現像剤の
吹き出しも生じない。 (実施例) 続いて本発明を具体化した実施例につき説明し、本発明
の理解に供する。 ここに第1図は、本発明の一実施例に係る現像装置を表
す正断面図である。 尚、以下の実施例は本発明を具体化した一例に過ぎず、
本発明の技術的範囲を限定する性格のものではない、ま
た第2図に示した従来の現像装置を構成する要素と共通
の要素には同一の符号を使用し、その説明を省略する。 第1vlJに示した実施例が、第2図に示した従来例と
異なる点は、上記現像開口部Cの上記主極N1と、該主
極N1に隣接する搬送極S2との間の現像ケーシング端
部13の1Jl像スリーブに対向する端部壁面13aを
現像スリーブ3に比較的近接せしめる(前記隙間すを狭
くする)と共に、上記端部壁面13aに隣接して上記搬
送極S2に対向する搬送極対向壁面13bに凹所を形成
して現像スリーブ3から比較的隔離せしめた点である0
図に示した凹所は段付きになっているが、これは滑らか
の凹み部に形成してもよい、このような端部壁面13a
から搬送極対向局面13bに続く壁面の形状は主極N1
から搬送極S2にかけて形成される現像剤の穂立ち形状
にほぼあわせたものとなっている。即ち、現像剤は主極
N1において最も大きく穂立ちし主極から搬送極に至る
部分で一度穂が寝るようになり、次に搬送極Sに於いて
再度大きく穂立ちするので、上記隙間すの幅をこのよう
な現像剤の穂立ち形状にあわせたものである。 従って上記現像スリーブ3が高速回転することにより、
現像装置内外の圧力に差ができても、上記隙間すの端部
壁面13aの部分が狭くなっているので、現像剤がこの
部分から吹き出すといった不都合は解消される。また、
上記壁面13a13bが現像剤の穂立ち形状と近似して
形成され、且つ上記現像ケーシング13と一体に形成さ
れているので、穂切りされた現像剤が溜まって塊となる
といった不都合がなくなる。 〔発明の効果〕 本発明は以上述べたように構成されているので、現像装
置からの現像剤の吹き出しといった問題が解決されると
共に、現像剤の溜まりによる不都合も同時に解消される
