Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve posture stability by controlling an angle of a trim tab which controls the posture of the hull of a motor boat or the like based on the deviation between a target trim tab angle, determined according to a boat speed and steering quantity, and an actual trim tab angle when the angle of the trim tab is controlled automatically. CONSTITUTION:Right and left trim tabs 2R, 2L are installed at the stern of a motor boat so that it may oscillate vertically freely, and their angles are adjusted freely by respective cylinders 55, 56. The respective cylinder 55, 56 are driven through solenoid valves by a controller 31 which inputs the output signals of a torque sensor 21, an engine speed sensor 22, right and left cylinder position sensors 23, 24 and so on. For this drive control, in the controller 31, a target trim tab angle is determined according to the boat speed obtained from the output of the speed sensor 22 and the steering quantity obtained from the torque sensor 21. The deviation between the target trim tab angle and the actual trim tab angle is calculated, according to which the respective cylinders 55, 56 are driven and controlled.

When the switch 3R is in the OFF position, the motor 9 stops rotating and the pump 7 stops. At the same time as the pump 7 is stopped, the valve IOR is switched to the closed position. When the solenoid valve IOR is switched to the closed position, the hydraulic fluid in the cylinder 5R does not move. The function generator 37a generates a trim tab target value f+ as shown in FIG. 6 according to the input engine speed signal r.
(r) is calculated. The trim tab target value f+(r) of the device of this embodiment is such that when the engine speed r is below a certain constant value rQ, the trim tab is maintained at the highest level, and when it exceeds a certain constant value ro, the trim tab is gradually increased as the engine speed increases. The calculation is such that when the trim tab is lowered to a certain angle, the trim tab will not go lower than that angle even if the rotational speed increases. However, it goes without saying that the calculation is not limited to the calculation of the trim tab target value f + (r) as shown in FIG. 6, and that any value can be calculated depending on the navigation conditions and the conditions of the hull.
