Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily remove praphite solution attached to the surface of a panel pin by stopping at a fixed position with a panel inside face directed just downward to pour water solution thereon through a nozzle which is installed corresponding to the panel pin. CONSTITUTION:When a graphite coated panel 2, held by a carrier 1, is rotationally moved to a panel pin cleaning position and starts rotation with being directed just downward, a movable base 4 is elevated by an air cylinder 3 and stopped when a positioning roller 5 has contact with the seal face 6 of the panel 2. When an extension shaft 11 is rotationally moved by an air cylinder 10, it causes a lever 12 joined thereto to push out a nozzle cap 13 along a guide rail 14 and is stopped in contact with a side wall around the panel pin 15. Followingly, water solution led from the tip of a nozzle 16 via a hose 17 is poured to clean the panel pin 15. It is thus possible to remove graphite solution attached to the surface of the panel pin in an easy method.

In forming the first layer of graphite film, after forming resist stripes or resist dots on the inner surface of the first panel, a shadow mask installed on the side wall of the panel is used to spray the graphite liquid over the entire inner surface of the panel. Graphite also adheres to and remains on the surface of panel pins. Since the spring of the shadow mask is fitted to this panel pin, the graphite adhering to the surface of the panel pin is scraped off and becomes conductive dust inside the picture tube, which can cause sparking inside the tube or clogging of the shadow mask. It will cause the cause.

Therefore, conventional methods for removing graphite from panel pins include mechanically cleaning the surface of the panel pin by rubbing it with a rotating brush, or Japanese Patent Application Laid-open No. 62-21943.
As disclosed in Publication No. 6, a method such as pressing a sponge roller against a panel pin and wiping off the adhering coating liquid is used, but Moe's method causes the brush to wear out and maintenance of the device is troublesome. In addition, if the graphite solids etc. blown away by the brush hit the screen part, there are problems such as creating defects on the black matrix surface, and the latter method causes the sponge roller to deteriorate quickly.
Problems in operation are likely to occur due to replacement or because the device is complicated, and furthermore, there are disadvantages such as liquid splashing from the roller to the screen during the pressure contact process of the sponge roller.

Conventional panel pin cleaning devices are constructed in such a way that a cleaning member such as a rotating brush or sponge roller comes into contact with the panel pins, which requires work to replace them as they wear out. Since the method involves applying force or contact, liquid splashes and dust splashes are likely to occur.
There were many problems.

The method for cleaning panel pins in this invention is to remove a large amount of graphite liquid that accumulates on the peripheral edge of the panel pin due to surface tension after applying graphite by pouring an aqueous solution on it while the graphite liquid is still wet. There is no residue left behind, and there are no structural members that wear out or deteriorate, so maintainability is excellent.

FIG. 1 is a flowchart of steps applied to a method for cleaning panel pins of a color picture tube according to the present invention. Next, the rotation speed of this panel is increased and excess graphite liquid is discharged from the inner surface of the panel by centrifugal force. Thereafter, the rotational speed is lowered to about 3 Orpm, and the infrared heater is used to gradually heat the film to suppress the fluidity of the graphite film within the screen. At this point, the amount of graphite liquid remaining on the surface of the panel pin is extremely large compared to the inside of the screen, so it has not yet dried and is still in a wet state. Subsequently, by pouring an aqueous solution of about 5 to 10 degrees downward onto the plurality of panel pins on the inner surface of the panel, the graphite liquid is washed away. After this, completely dry the panel inner surface and panel pins using an infrared heater.

An electromagnetic pulp (not shown) is connected to the hose (17) that supplies the aqueous solution, and when it is closed after cleaning for about 6 seconds, the above-mentioned mechanisms operate in reverse order, and the movable base (4) detaches from panel (2) and descends to return to the reference position. This completes one cycle of the pin cleaning process, and the carrier (1) rotates again to move to the next drying position using an infrared heater.

2! Fig. IIB is a partially enlarged view for explaining the mutual relationship between the nozzle cap (13) and the panel pin (15) in the panel pin cleaning device shown in Fig. 2, and the structure of the nozzle cap (13) is as follows: A recess (13a) deeper than the height of the panel pin (15) from the side wall of the panel (2)
The recess (13a) is further provided with a nozzle/L/(16) for discharging the aqueous solution. That is, when this nozzle cap (13) moves forward and comes into pressure contact with the panel side wall, the panel pin (13) moves forward as shown by the two-dot chain line.
5) so as to make contact with the U-shape (2a) surrounding it. Therefore, the space for cleaning the panel pin (15) is separated from the screen side of the panel (2), so the aqueous solution that is poured hits the panel pin (15) and scatters, which may cause defects on the screen. Trouble can be avoided.

As described above, according to the present invention, after coating the graphite liquid, the nozzle cap is used to clean and remove the graphite liquid while the panel pin is not dry.
Since the aqueous solution is discharged surrounding the pin, there is no problem of wear or deterioration of the device parts, and the cleaning effect is good and the withstand voltage performance can be significantly improved.
