ナー像を転写材に転写し、その際感光体に基準パ
ターンを露光し、非画像部をイレーサにより電荷
消去して現像して基準パターントナー像と感光体
地肌濃度とを光反射式トナー濃度検知センサによ
り検出し、基準パターン像濃度と感光体地肌濃度
との比の値に基づいて現像装置のトナー濃度制御
を行う複写装置において、 所定のコピー枚数に達すると前記トナー濃度セ
ンサを感光体の軸線方向に走査動させて感光体の
地肌部の濃度を検出し、その検出出力が予め設定
した値以下の場合にイレーサの印加電圧を通常電
圧より高い電圧に切換えることと、次の所定のコ
ピー枚数に達したときに前記トナー濃度センサの
検出出力が設定値以下のときは操作部上に警告表
示してコピー禁止状態とし、設定値を越えている
