Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the manufacture of the resin-covered supporting body for photography useful for eliminating running flaws and running wrinkles by specifying the coefft. static friction so as to be 0.2 to 0.6 when the resin-covered supporting body for photography holds a paper roll therein. CONSTITUTION:The coefft. static friction of the resin-covered supporting body for photography when the supporting body holds the paper roll therein is specified so as to be 0.2 to 0.6 range at the time of subjecting the supporting body for photography provided with polyolefin resin coating layers on both surfaces of base paper to line traveling. The supporting body formed by matting the surface coating layers with the polyolefin resin is included and the case in which a sub-coating layer essentially consisting of gelatin on the resin coating layer on the side provided with emulsion layers is included as well. Thus the running wrinkles and running flaws are eliminated, the speed is increased or online multilayer coating is attained and the productivity and quality are greatly improved.

This problem is due to the holding angle of the photographic support, the tension, the paper roll starting torque, the roughness and shape of the photographic support, and the roughness and shape of the paper roll. Fine streak-like scratches (hereinafter referred to as scratches) may occur on the photographic support during running, or creases that are diagonal or continuous in the direction of flow (hereinafter referred to as wrinkles).

As seen in Public Utility Model Publication No. 63-26655, efforts have been made to improve the shape of paper rolls and eliminate these problems, but sufficient countermeasures have not always been taken, and it has been very difficult to solve these problems. The current situation is that we have been struggling.

(Means for Solving the Problem) The present invention provides a method for running a photographic support in which a polyolefin resin coating layer is provided on both sides of a base paper in a line, so that the coefficient of static friction when the resin-coated photographic support holds a paper roll is 0.2 to 0.6, including those in which the surface coating layer of polyolefin resin is matted, and a subcoat layer mainly composed of gelatin on the resin coating layer on the side where the emulsion layer is provided. In addition, it includes cases in which a back coat layer consisting of a pigment and a binder is provided on the back resin coating layer on the side opposite to the side where the emulsion layer is provided. The present invention is characterized by a method for manufacturing a resin-coated photographic support in which the roughness of the layer is in the range of Ra0 to 10. The present invention also provides a method for producing a resin-coated photographic support in which the roughness of the paper roll is in the range of Ra0 to 20, and the starting torque of the paper roll is 300 g or less.

That is, it has been found that the running properties of the photographic support can be improved by adjusting the coefficient of static friction between the photographic support and the paper roll within the range of 0.2 to 0.6. That is,
Based on this discovery, in the combination of the roughness of the photographic support and the paper roll, the roughness of the photographic support is Ra0 to 10, and the roughness of the paper roll is Ra.
If it is 0 to 20, the coefficient of static friction between the photographic support and the paper roll is 0. When adjusted to 6 or less, the running properties of the photographic support are improved. More preferably, the static friction coefficient is in the range of 0.2 to 0.6.

In other words, the runnability of a photographic support is generally determined by the static friction between the photographic support and the paper roll under the conditions that the machine is at its level and the rotation of the paper roll is in sync with the photographic support. The coefficient is 0. If it is larger than 6, the adhesion will be high and wrinkles will occur.

In addition, the static friction coefficient is 0. If it is less than 2, there will not be enough friction to cause the roll to rotate at a circumferential speed that matches the traveling speed of the photographic support, resulting in scratches on the resin-coated surface.

In addition, the holding angle between the paper roll and the photographic support is a factor that causes tension in starting the paper roll. The holding angle between the paper roll and the photographic support is 20-1

(Example 2) Under the conditions described in Example 1, the roughness of a photographic support with a polyolefin resin coating layer of 0.04 and an aluminum-coated paper roll were varied, and the coefficient of static friction was measured. The skin was then evaluated for wrinkles and scratches. Table 2 shows the results.
Described in . In addition, in the results of Nα16, the mold of the convex portion of the paper roll was transferred to the resin layer of the support, resulting in a decrease in quality.
