Abstract

PURPOSE:To simplify operations by controlling the turning on/off of an illuminator for liquid crystal display elements composing an accessory by means of interlocking with the control of the turning on/off of an illuminator for the liquid crystal display elements of a camera through the operation of the operating member of the illuminator on the camera side. CONSTITUTION:The subject illuminator is provided with an external display device wherein the camera B and the accessory A are composed of the liquid crystal display elements 24 and 11, the illuminators 26 and 9 illuminating the liquid crystal display elements 24 and 11, and the operating members 27 and 12 actuating the illuminators 26 and 9. When the camera B is joined with the accessory A, the illuminator 26 for the camera B is controlled through the operation of the illuminator operating member 27 on the side of the camera B, and by interlocking with this control, the illuminator 9 for the accessory A is controlled. Consequently, the turning on/off of the illuminators for the camera and accessory can be simplified.

Then, when the switch 27 of the camera B is operated, the camera microcomputer 21 outputs a control signal for starting the drive circuit 25 of the lighting device 26, and the lighting device 26 is started. At this time, the camera microcomputer 21 responds to this operation with 31! Then, a message is sent to the flash device microcomputer 10 via the data communication line C8O via l1022 that the illumination device 26 of the camera is in the driving state. Upon receiving this information, the flash device microcomputer 10 outputs a control signal for starting the lighting device drive circuit 8 of the flash device, and starts the lighting device 9. This makes it possible for the illumination device 26 of camera B and the illumination device 9 of flash device A to light up simultaneously, and the LCD 24.1
