Abstract

PURPOSE:To form a skirt, serving to float a boat body, with high efficiency and to improve durability by a method wherein a sheet member formed of a thermoplastic material is cut in a given shape, and after end parts are overlapped with each other, the overlapped part is fused. CONSTITUTION:An air cushion boat is provided at the peripheral part of the lower part of a body 1 with a skirt 2 having an air bag 6 and a finger 7 and formed of an elastic material. High pressure air is fed in a space in the skirt 2 from a fan 4 to float the body 1, and the body 1 is sailed through rotation of a propeller 5. In this case, in molding of the skirt 2, a sheet member formed of a thermoplastic materials first cut in a given shape to form a plurality of unit sheet materials 14. Joints 14 ' between the adjoining unit sheet materials 14 are superposed with a jig 15 formed in a given shape, and the tip of each of the unit sheets is positioned by means of a bolt 16. Each joint 14 ' is then heated to fuse together the adjoining unit sheet materials 14.

More specifically, as shown in FIGS. 5 and 6, this air cushion boat has a skirt 2 made of a flexible material arranged around the lower part of the main body 1 to form a partition 3 at the lower part of the main body 1. The levitation fan 4 feeds high-pressure air into this section 3 to make it levitate, and the propulsion propeller 5 provided on the main body 1 is operated to travel. The skirt 2 is composed of an air bag 6 fixed around the lower part of the main body 1 and a finger 7 fixed to the air bag 6.

By the way, rubber is used as a flexible material in the skirt 2 of the conventional air cushion canister described above. The skirt, which has a complicated shape, is made of rubber as shown in Fig. 8a. After cutting 8b into a predetermined shape, the ends thereof are brought together and the parts are sewn together with thread 9 to form the shape. Therefore, waves etc.
.. Repeated collisions with the cart 2 caused the seam threads 9 to break, resulting in frequent repairs to the skirt 2.

The sheet member forming the seal portion of the present invention is constructed by covering both sides of a reinforcing woven fabric with a thermoplastic material, and is formed into a unit sheet by cutting this sheet member into a predetermined shape. After the materials are positioned using a jig, their joints are heated and fused using a hot air gun or infrared heater. [Embodiment] An embodiment of the skirt forming method for an air cushion boat according to the present invention will be described below with reference to FIGS. 1 to 4.
