ＨＳいずれかの方式で記録し、ＳＥＣＡＭ方式の
信号が入力された場合は必ずＶＨＳ方式で記録す
るビデオテープレコーダにおいて、装着テープが
Ｓ−ＶＨＳ専用テープか否かを判定するテープ判
定手段と、マニユアルスイツチがＳ−ＶＨＳを選
択しているのかＶＨＳを選択しているのかを判定
する指示モード判定手段と、ビデオ回路に入力さ
れる信号がＰＡＬ信号かＳＥＣＡＭ信号かを判定
する信号判定手段と、テープ判定手段によりＳ−
ＶＨＳ専用テープが装着され且つ指示モード判定
手段によりＳ−ＶＨＳ記録が選択されていること
が判定されている場合に、信号判定手段がビデオ
回路に入力されている信号をＳＥＣＡＭ信号であ
ると判定したため、モードがＶＨＳになつている
ことを報知する報知手段とを具備したことを特徴
