Abstract

PURPOSE:To secure excellent heating effect and noise suppressing effect as well respectively by partitioning a part of an exhaust chamber provided for an exhaust system at the upstream of a main muffler, thereby providing the heat receiving section of a heat pipe which feeds heat exchanging medium to a heater unit in a cabin. CONSTITUTION:An exhaust chamber 19 is interposed to the upstream side of a main muffler 17 in an exhaust tube 14 arranged within the tunnel section of a car body. In this case, the exhaust chamber 19 composed of paired upper and lower cases 21 is formed into a sand-witch shape, and its inside section is partitioned by a partition board 22 in such a way that a chamber section 23 and a heat receiving section 25 of a heat pipe 24 are provided for the afterward section and the forward section of it respectively. This permits an occupied area to be made smaller as compared with the former case wherein the chamber section 23 and the heat receiving section 25 are separately arranged, and also permits the chamber section 23 to be made larger in size in particular. This constitution enables the exhaust chamber 19 for suppressing exhaust noise to be put side by side with a type of a heating system in which the heat pipe 24 is employed.

A heat vibro that is sent to the heater unit in the room is attached to the heat receiving section 7, and due to the exhaust gas passing through the exhaust tube 3, the liquid in the heat receiving section 7 becomes evaporated gas, passes through the heat vibro, and is exchanged with the heater unit. It becomes a liquid and returns to the heat receiving part 7 (a structure using a heat pipe is disclosed in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 62-1662).

Problem to be Solved by the Invention By the way, as shown in Figure 6.7, some vehicle exhaust systems include an exhaust tube to prevent the generation of high-frequency noise due to exhaust when the engine is not very warm. There is an exhaust chamber 10 provided downstream of the catalytic converter 4 in No. 3, but when attempting to install this exhaust chamber 10 on a structure equipped with a heat vibro, the arrangement space for the exhaust chamber 10 (Fig. There is a problem in that the number of medium (L) is drastically reduced. That is, since the exhaust tube 3 is routed so as to avoid the fuel tank 11, only a limited space remains behind the heat receiving part 7 of the heat vibro and in front of the fuel tank 11 for the exhaust chamber 0. It is not.
