タンを切出し、切出した文字パタンを認識して該
認識の結果を出力する認識部と、単語辞書に基づ
いて前記認識結果の後処理を行ない、該後処理の
結果を出力する後処理部とを備えて成る文字認識
装置において、 隣接する文字パタン間の空白の位置情報を前記
文字パタンの切出し位置から得、この文字間空白
の位置情報に基づき後処理一単位分の単語の区切
りを検出し、該単語の区切りに応じた単語辞書の
選択情報を出力する辞書選択部を設け、 前記後処理部を、前記選択情報に基づいて単語
辞書を選択する後処理部としたことを特徴とする

が最大となる文字間空白を単語の区切りとして検
