[Prior Art] Conventionally, when creating a document using a word processor, printing system, etc. that prints on paper, the size of the printed characters is often changed depending on the purpose and output to a dot printing device. In order to change the character size, the system stores character pattern data generated for each character size, and then outputs characters of the specified size. However, this method requires a large storage capacity to format documents using a wide variety of characters of different sizes. Therefore, in recent years, as shown in Figure 3, a method has been developed in which character outline data is represented by coordinate points, stored as character pattern data, and a character of a specified size is output by calculation for a specified character size. The outline character data method (hereinafter referred to as the outline character data method) has been developed.

ことにある。In response to this request, conventionally, a certain range has been set, such as text size from 8 points to 12 points, subheading text from 12 points to 30 points, and heading text from 30 points to 50 points. The method used is to store multiple character data that matches the font size to be used and to switch and output the data according to the specified size, but when storing multiple character data, the storage capacity, font, and font consistency are Therefore, it is an object of the present invention to provide a character pattern generating device that can solve these problems.

By locating which part of the two character pattern data each coordinate point of the outline data corresponds to for each coordinate point, a direct slope formula can be obtained for the X and Y axes, so that it can be generated from Each coordinate point (X,
Y) Calculate the magnification of the character pattern data from the outline character pattern data given to the information and the specified output character size, and calculate the specified character size from the slope formula given to each coordinate point (X, Y) above. By having an arithmetic unit that calculates and sends out each coordinate point of the size, it is possible to obtain high-quality character pattern data for any character size.

To explain with reference to the diagram drawn in the calculation unit 3 of FIG. 1, each coordinate point of the triangle of large character data (X+ Y+ ~
