Abstract

PURPOSE:To maintain the cost for molding and processing low, and to carry out satisfactory quenching work by making the height of a protruded part smaller than the depth of a trajectory surface, and by making the width of the protruded part smaller than the width of the trajectory surface in determining press working size of a material before quenching. CONSTITUTION:When a thrust ball bearing race main body 8 is to be manufactured, a trajectory surface 6 and a protruded part 12 of a material is press- worked before quenching. The height H of the protruded part 12 is smaller than the depth D of the trajectory surface 6, while the width (w) of the protruded part 12 is smaller than the width W of the trajectory surface 6, in determining the size for processing. The cost for molding and processing can be maintained low, and satisfactory quenching work can be carried out thereby.

As is well known, a thrust ball bearing consists of a pair of races, each formed in a circular ring shape, with raceway surfaces formed on opposing surfaces, and a plurality of balls that are freely relocatable between the raceway surfaces of both races. As the balls are transferred, the member supporting one race and the member supporting the other race are allowed to rotate relative to each other.

In the thrust ball bearing with a synthetic resin case shown in FIG. 5, the lower surface of one of the synthetic resin cases 2.3 attached to a pair of races 1.1 By engaging the hooks 4a and 4b hanging down from both ends with the hooks 5a and 5b planted on the upper surface of both ends of the other synthetic resin case 3, both synthetic resins will be attached unless strong force is applied. The thrust ball bearings are made easier to handle by preventing the manufactured cases 2 and 3 from separating.

When making a lace by the method of the present invention, first, a circular ring-shaped main body 8 made of unhardened steel plate is press-formed, so that a cross-section is formed on the entire circumference of one side (the top surface in FIG. 1) of the main body 8. At the same time as forming the raceway surface 6 concave in an arc shape,
A convex portion 12 is formed all around the other surface (lower surface in the figure) of the main body 8 to form a lace material 13.

In this way, the dimensions of the raceway surface 6 and the convex portion 12 are regulated by adjusting the shapes of the upper and lower molds used for press working to the dimensions of the raceway surface 6 and the convex portion 12. , can be easily done. Furthermore, when the thickness of the raceway surface 6 portion is compressed during press working, the metal material of the raceway surface 6 portion becomes denser and the strength of this portion is improved. As a result of regulating the size of the convex portion 12 as described above, the lace material 13 manufactured in the process of carrying out the manufacturing method of the present invention
The convex portion 12 on the other side can also completely enter inside the raceway surface 6 on one side of the lace material 13.

(2) Manufacture of a race for a thrust ball bearing consisting of a pair of races each formed in a circular ring shape and having raceway surfaces formed on opposing surfaces, and a plurality of balls provided between the raceway surfaces of both races. In this method, a ring-shaped main body made of unhardened steel plate is press-formed to form a raceway surface with an arc-shaped cross section on the entire circumference of one side of the main body, and at the same time, the main body is After making a lace material by forming a convex portion having a height dimension smaller than the depth dimension of the raceway surface and a width dimension smaller than the width dimension of the raceway surface on the entire circumference of the other surface, a plurality of laces are formed. A state in which the material is brought into close contact with the flat part on one side that exists on the inner and outer circumferential sides of each raceway surface and the flat part on the other side that exists on the inner and outer circumferential sides of each convex part. A method for manufacturing a race for a thrust ball bearing, in which a plurality of race materials overlapped with each other are pressed down with a jig, and then the multiple race materials are hardened to form a race.
