Typical prior art is a Japanese typewriter that prints by colliding a piece of type with a recording paper on a platen via an ink ribbon, and a typewriter that prints by operating a key input device with a pen or finger. Word processors, etc. In all of these prior art techniques, a person must visually search for the desired location on the typeface or keyboard to print the desired character, and therefore requires a person who is not trained to operate it. Not only is it difficult for people to use, but it is faster to write text by hand compared to the printing speed of experienced operators.

FIG. 1 is an overall perspective view showing the basic structure of the present invention. FIG. 2 is its block diagram. The main body 1 has a flat writing area 2. A plurality of switches 3 for operation are provided near this write area 2. writing area 2
The handwritten characters written on the screen are visually displayed on a display 4 such as a cathode ray tube. Further, the characters displayed on the display 4 are printed on a recording paper 6 by a printer 5. The printer 5 may have a structure in which type pieces strike the recording paper 6 via an ink ribbon, for example, like the above-mentioned Japanese typewriter, or may have a structure in which characters are formed by combining a large number of dots. The configuration may be the same as the previous one. The write area 2 includes a matrix-like wiring group in which a plurality of vertical lines and a plurality of horizontal lines intersect.
When the intersections of these lines are pressed, the lines become electrically conductive at the pressed locations, and this is read by the processing device 7.
The characters written in the writing area 2 are retrieved by reading a series of intersections. Such a processing device 7 is realized by a computer such as a microcomputer including a microprocessor 8, a read-only memory 9, and a random access memory 10. The printer 5 is controlled by a control signal from the processing device 7, and the characters written in the writing area 2 are printed on the recording paper 6, and the display 4 is printed by the drive circuit 11.
is driven and the written character is displayed. The display 4 can also be configured to display a series of sentences written up to that point. When writing characters in the writing area 2, a pen-like stick may be used, or a finger may be used directly. Further, at the beginning or end of the writing operation for each character, one of the plurality of switches 3 is operated. As a result, the processing device 7
detects each character input.

FIG. 3 is a perspective view showing another configuration on which the present invention is based. Corresponding parts of the structure described above are given the same reference numerals. In this configuration, an operating device 13 with a writing area 2 and a switch 3 is connected to a printer 5 by a line 14. The operating device 13 includes a processing device 7 .

FIG. 4 shows the write area 2 of an embodiment of the present invention.
FIG. In this embodiment, at the beginning of writing a character, a predetermined switch 15 provided at the upper left corner of the writing area 2 is operated. This switch 15 is the first switch at the beginning of writing.
This is the position where the picture begins. This will cause switch 3
This operation can be omitted. If the first stroke does not start from the upper left corner of the character, press switch 15 before writing.

In the embodiment of FIG. 4 described above, a switch 15 for starting the first stroke of one character is arranged in the upper left corner of the writing area 2, and the upper and lower parts of the switch 15 are the same as the upper part of the writing area 2. There are spaces l1 and l2 from the bottom, respectively, and the switch 15
The left side and the right side are spaced l3 and l4 from the left side and right side of the writing area 2, respectively.
The writing area 2 has a flat, substantially square shape, and is capable of writing one character.

As described above, according to the present invention, the handwritten characters written on the flat writing area 2 are read and the printer 5 prints them out, so that the writing area can be read without any special training. As long as you write the characters in 2, you can make a clean copy, so the printing speed can be improved.

Further, according to the present invention, the writing area 2 has a flat, substantially square shape, and one character's worth of writing is performed on the writing area 2. The switch 15 is provided at the position where the first stroke of one character starts. As a result, it is possible to type out input for each character without performing any special operations. That is, in order to perform a reading operation by the reading means 7 as one character's worth of written data, the configurations shown in FIGS. 1 to 3 require the following steps.
In contrast to the need to reach out and operate one of the switches 3 located far from the writing area 2, in the present invention, the first stroke passes through the switch 15 during writing. It is easy to operate because all you have to do is write it in.
