Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent temperature rise and the unusable state of an optical disk subsystem device due to the blinding of an air purifying filter by providing a temperature detector and a temperature indicating device. CONSTITUTION:An optical disk device 2 to use an optical disk 1, a control device 3 to control the optical disk device, a system driving power unit 4, and a fan motor 5 are covered by a case body 6, and the fan motor 5 is installed at an air inlet port 6a at the rear part of the case body 6, and a filter 7 is installed at the outside of the inlet port 6a. A thermocouple 10 is fixed between a optical head 8 and the disk 1 in a state that the disk 1 is being attached to a spindle motor 9 by a screw 12. An indicator 11 indicates the state of the temperature rise by comparing the generated voltage of the thermocouple with a value set beforehand in the control device 3. Through this constitution, the reliability of the optical disk subsystem device can be improved.

Conventionally, this type of optical disk subsystem device uses a fan motor 5 to introduce external air into the subsystem housing 6 through an air inlet 6a to prevent the temperature of the device from rising, as shown in FIG. 3, for example. In addition, the air introduced into the device is filtered through a filter 7 installed at the inlet when introduced into the device to prevent contamination inside the optical disk device 2, especially to prevent contamination of the lens of the optical head. The structure is such that it is introduced into the device after removing dust from the air, and specifically detects temperature rises inside the optical disk device 2 due to clogging of the filter 7 and temperature rises due to abnormalities inside the optical disk device 2. I didn't have the means to do so. Note that the optical disk medium 1 is inserted into the subsystem housing 6 through the insertion slot 6b.

When the above-mentioned conventional optical disk subsystem device is used in a natural environment, the filter for purifying the introduced air becomes clogged due to dust in the air, and the flow rate of introduced air decreases. Because the temperature inside the device rises and the device becomes inoperable, the filter needs to be replaced. However, since the device does not have a built-in mechanism to monitor the temperature rise, the filter may become clogged and the optical disc may become inoperable. If an abnormal temperature rise inside the device is not detected and the device becomes inoperable while it is in operation, data may be destroyed, making it impossible to maintain the initial performance and reliability of the optical disk device.

The present invention provides an optical disc device that reads and writes information using an optical disc medium, a control device that controls the optical disc device, a power supply device, and a housing that houses the optical disc device, the control device, and the power supply device. In an optical disc subsystem device comprising a fan motor for sending external air into the housing to prevent a temperature rise, and a filter for purifying the external air, the voltage may be reduced due to a temperature rise inside the optical disc device. It has a temperature detector that generates the temperature, and a display device that displays the abnormal temperature rise detected by the temperature detector.

First, the configuration of the optical disk subsystem device of this embodiment will be explained with reference to FIG. An optical disk device 2 that uses an optical disk medium 1 to read and write information, a control device 3 that controls the optical disk device 2, a power supply device 4 that drives the system, and an external A fan motor 5 for feeding air is covered by a subsystem housing 6, and the fan motor 5 is attached to an air inlet 6a provided at the rear of the subsystem housing 6 to purify external air. The filter 7 is shown attached to the outside of the air inlet 6a.

Next, FIG. 2 will be explained. With the optical disk medium 1 mounted on the spindle motor 9 inside the optical disk device 2, a thermocouple 10 of a temperature detector is attached to the side of the optical disk device 2 between the optical head 8 and the optical disk medium 1 using screws 12. Since the generated voltage from the thermocouple 10 of the temperature detector increases proportionally as the temperature inside the optical disk device 2 rises, this generated voltage and the abnormal voltage value are input into the control device 3 in advance. Control device 3 compares with the set value.
The display 11 displays the state of temperature rise through the.

As explained above, the present invention constantly monitors the temperature rise due to clogging of the cooling air purifying filter attached to the optical disk subsystem device and the temperature rise due to the above inside the optical disk device. This has the effect of preventing the optical disc subsystem from becoming unusable due to a drop in performance, increasing the reliability of the optical disc subsystem, and eliminating economic and time losses.
