Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a dyed material having excellent fastness to light by mordanting yarn with a specific metallic ion before or after yarn is dyed in a dyeing bath containing anthocyanin. CONSTITUTION:Yarn, especially protein yarn is dyed in a dyeing bath containing an anthocyanin (preferable example: cyanidin-3-arabinoside) adjusted to pH <=4, then mordanted with a solution containing a metallic ion selected from palladium, cerium, yttrium, bismuth and platinum or dyed in a solution containing the metallic ion and the anthocyanin to give a dyed material having extremely excellent fastness to light. The same effects are obtained either by a method of mordanting the yarn with the metallic ion before dyeing or by a method of using the metallic ion in the dyeing bath.

Therefore, attempts were made to improve the light fastness by adding iron, aluminum, tin, antimony, and chromium salts to the dye solution, but no product with marketable light fastness could be obtained. Also, by adding a UV absorber to the dyeing solution,
Attempts have been made to improve light fastness, but these too have not yielded good results.

The dyeing bath is maintained at 80 to 95° C., and the cloth or thread of the fiber is immersed in the dye bath solution for 30 minutes to 2 hours to dye. Thereafter, the dyeing solution is removed by thorough washing with water, and the material is air-dried. Furthermore, the obtained dyed and woven fabric is treated with a solution containing at least one metal ion selected from the group consisting of palladium, cerium, yttrium, bismuth, and platinum (
Preferably, it is immersed in an aqueous solution at 25° C. for 5 minutes to 2 hours to mordant. The above-mentioned metal-containing solution is a common commercially available reagent,
For example, if the metal is palladium, palladium chloride, cerium, cerium ammonium sulfate, yatrium, yttrium chloride, bismuth, bismuth chloride, and platinum, potassium chloroplatinate.
Adjust by dissolving 1-10% (w/v) in ion-exchanged water. If the pH of the solution is 7 or higher, it is usually adjusted to 7 or lower using an acid such as hydrochloric acid. If a metal other than the above metals is used for andonanine, the desired light fastness cannot be obtained.
