Conventionally, electrical connectors generally have a female terminal T and a housing M for a male connector as shown in Figure 5.
As illustrated separately, there is a female terminal (hereinafter simply referred to as a terminal) T in which an electric wire W is crimped and crimped with a conductor crimping part b and a covered wire crimping part c, and an electrical contact part a is formed in the front part. and a box-shaped housing M.

As shown in a perspective view in FIG. 6a and a sectional view in FIG. By locking the rear end portions at d and lances e, the terminal is prevented from coming off forward or backward from the housing. However, the locking of the terminal T into the housing M is not necessarily a tight fixation, and there is some wobbling, and the terminal T is not fixed tightly in the housing M.
When vibrations in the P 1 , P 2 , Q 1 , and Q 2 directions are frequently applied to the wire W, the terminal T and the inner wall of the housing M collide and interfere with each other, producing abnormal noise.

For example, when a connector C formed by inserting a terminal T into a housing M is connected to an electric wire terminal of a wire harness H of an automobile as shown in FIG. 7 for selective connection of equipment, the connector C is The electric wire W1 connected to C is fixed to the wire harness H by wrapping f with tape. Therefore, when the connector C is used in such a state, the electric wire W 1 is subjected to vertical and horizontal vibrations P 1 , P 2 ,
Q 1 and Q 2 are added, and the contact between the terminal T and the inner wall of the housing M causes abnormal noise in the connector C, which has the disadvantage of impairing the comfort of the vehicle interior.

Regarding this kind of noise-preventing connector, there is known a connector in Japanese Patent Publication No. 56-49429 in which hair made of nylon, rayon, cotton, etc. is implanted on the inner and outer surfaces of the housing to prevent the generation of noise. ,
Although there is a method of preventing the generation of abnormal noise due to collision with the terminal by planting hair on the housing, this method has the drawback that the process required for hair planting is complicated and the cost is high.

That is, for example, when the terminal T is inserted into a box-shaped housing M as shown in FIG. The major axis l 1 and minor axis l 2 of the ellipse have a relationship of l 1 ≦l 3 and l 2 ≦l 4 with respect to the major axis l 3 and minor axis l 4 of the inner wall cross section of the housing M, respectively. In other words, the cylindrical portion 2 of the cap A inserted at the rear inside the housing M is formed so as not to compress the inner wall surface of the housing M even if it comes into contact with the inner wall surface.

When inserting the cap A of the present invention into the housing M, before caulking and fixing the wire W to the terminal T, insert the wire W into the wire insertion hole 3 of the cap A from the rear surface of the cylindrical body 2, and then The stripped wire conductor part is crimped to the conductor crimping part b of the terminal T, and the covered wire W is crimped to the covered wire crimping part c of the terminal T together with the wire attachment part 1 of the cap A. By crimping, the cap A is fixed to the rear end of the terminal T as shown in FIG. 2a. Next, the terminal T with the cap A fixed is inserted into the housing M as shown in Fig. 2b, and the terminal T is engaged with the lance e inside the housing M. At the same time, the cap A is attached to the rear cavity of the housing M. The assembly is completed by doing this.

When using a cap A2 that does not have the wire attachment part 1 on the front part of the cap, insert the cap A2 in contact with or close to the rear part of the terminal T as shown in Fig. 4b, and then By engaging the locking protrusion 5a of the detachment prevention arm 5 with A2 , the cap A2 is locked and held within the housing M.
Furthermore, it is also possible to prevent the cap A from coming off by forming the inner diameter of the wire insertion hole 3 sufficiently smaller than the outer diameter of the wire W and press-fitting the wire W therethrough. The part 1 and the falling-off prevention arm 5 can be omitted.

As described above, when inserting the electric wire W fixed to the terminal T into the electric wire insertion hole 3 of the cap A of the present invention and inserting the terminal T and the cap A into the housing M, the electric wire W is inserted into the electric wire W as shown in FIG. As shown in b, most of the vibration energy applied in the vertical and horizontal directions, that is, in the P 1 , P 2 , Q 1 , and Q 2 directions, is absorbed by the cap A formed of a flexible elastic body. Therefore, terminal T
Frequently colliding with the inner wall of the housing M is prevented, and the generation of abnormal noise caused by this is almost eliminated.

Since the cap of the present invention has the structure and function described in detail above, most of the external vibrations applied to the electric wire are absorbed by the cap of the present invention, and abnormal noise from the connector due to rattling of the terminals inserted into the housing is eliminated. Occurrence is almost completely prevented. Further, the structure and mounting means of the cap of the present invention are extremely simple, and the cap can be manufactured at low cost. Furthermore, even if the cap of the present invention is inserted into the housing in an uncompressed state, there is no risk of it slipping out of the housing due to the holding means (wire attachment portion 1, detachment prevention arm 5, etc.).
