覚で芯の上下調節により火力を調整しているが、
火力をあまり弱くした場合には不完全燃焼を生じ
すすや不快な臭いを発生する原因となり、逆に火
力を強くし過ぎた場合(なお強過ぎる場合には火
炎が大きく出るので気付き易い)には過熱による
火炎等の心配が生ずる等の問題があつた。
