Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the reading of an identification mark and a length graduation from being made difficult as a result of mutual overlapping of both marks, by feeding ink to the peripheral plane of a rotating roll having the reverse shape of the identification mark and the reverse shape of the length scale mark respectively carved on the peripheral plane, and at the same time rotating the roll into contact with the surface of a cable. CONSTITUTION:An identification mark 4 and a length graduation 5 are carved respectively on the peripheral plane of a rotating roll 3 at desired intervals therebetween and in the reverse shapes, and the roll 3 is brought into contact with the surface of a traveling cable 2 while ink is fed to the roll 3 so that both of the identification mark 4 and the length graduation 5 are simultaneously printed on the surface of the cable 2. Because simultaneous printing of the identification mark 4 and the length graduation 5 by the single rotating-roll 3 in this manner causes both marks 4, 5 to always keep the intervals carved on the peripheral plane of the rotating roll 3, mutual overlapping of both marks 4, 5 never occurs so that the identification mark 4 and the length graduation 5, both easily identifiable, can be put on the surface of the cable.

て、かつ該回転ロール3の下部を印刷用のインク貯蔵槽
7に浸漬させながら走行するケーブルにより回転させ、
かつ必要窓じて反対側からケーブル押えロール6等によ
りケーブルの浮き上がりを防止しながら、その表面に例
えば第2図に示すような識別マーク4や長さ目盛5を印
刷する。
