Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable light to be irradiated to the upward and downward directions of a road along the longer direction of the road as well as to make a device simple in configuration at low cost by disposing a lamp the both side illuminating surfaces of which are faced to each other while being formed into nearly flat shape, to a lamp body in such a way the both side illuminating surfaces are faced to the upward and downward directions of the road respectively. CONSTITUTION:A lamp is made up in such a way that its discharge pass is bent in a W-shape configuration over a same flat surface. This is, for example, a type of a compact fluorescent lamp in a single shape. Each illuminant surface at the both sides of the lamp 4 is of a flat shape, and the largest quantity of light is emitted from these illuminant surfaces at the both sides. The illuminant surfaces at the both sides of the lamp 4 which are faced to each other, are disposed to a lamp body 3 which is supported by a support body 1 erected along a road 2, in such a way that the illuminant surfaces at the both sides are faced to the longer direction of the road 2, the light is thereby distributed to the longer direction of the road 2 while excellent lighting can be available. By this constitution, excellent lighting effect can thereby be obtained only by a single lamp 4 without any particular optical design to control light distribution so that a device can easily be made at low cost.
