Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect erroneous insertion by providing a conductor part connecting two points of a case for an IC card and recognizing conduction between two points when the IC card is inserted. CONSTITUTION:The contact parts 13 and 14 in the IC card 11 are connected by a conductor 15. When the IC card 11 is accurately inserted, a conduction detection part 18 detects a conduction state by the transmission of a signal from a signal output part 16 to a signal input part 17. Then, a light-emitting element 19 is flickered, and an operator is informed of the accurate insertion of the IC card 11. Then, a read/write control part 20 reads or writes data from the IC card 11 through a contact point 12. When the IC card 11 is erroneously inserted, the conduction detection part 18 cannot detect the conduction state. Thus, it is detected that the IC card 11 is erroneously inserted. Consequently, the read/write control part 20 does not access the contact point 12 of the IC card 11 and an integrated circuit incorporated in the IC card 11 is prevented from being damaged.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION (Industrial Application Field) The present invention relates to an IC card reader/writer device that continuously outputs or writes data to an IC card.
Particularly relevant to IC card reader/writer devices that prevent incorrect insertion of IC cards. <<Prior Art>> Conventionally, an IC card reader/writer device into which an IC card equipped with an integrated circuit for storing data is inserted and reads data from or writes data to the IC card is a reverse insertion type IC card. The IC card is structured so that it can be inserted incorrectly, and there is no way to check whether the IC card is correctly inserted beforehand when inserting the IC card. It wasn't until I accessed it in the department that I realized that it had been inserted incorrectly. (Problem to be Solved by the Invention) The conventional IC card reader/writer device described above does not have a means to check in advance whether the IC card is inserted in the correct direction, that is, whether it is inserted incorrectly. If the tC card is inserted incorrectly,
Head section and I for reading or writing data
If there is an abnormal contact between the contacts of the C card and the head section sends current for access, the abnormal current will flow to the IC card and the integrated circuit inside the IC card will be destroyed. As described above, conventional IC card reader/writer devices had problems that needed to be solved. (Means for Solving the Problems) Means provided by the present invention to solve the above-mentioned problems are as follows:
An IC card reader/writer device into which an IC card including an integrated circuit for storing data is inserted and writes data to or reads data from the IC card, the IC card reader/writer device being capable of detecting erroneous insertion of the IC card. The present invention is characterized by comprising an insertion detection means and a display means for notifying an operator of the insertion state of the IC card. Furthermore, means provided by the present invention is the above-mentioned IC card reader/writer device, in which when an IC card provided with a direction indicating means is inserted, the erroneous insertion detecting means moves from the position of the indicating means to the direction indicated by the direction. The feature is that it detects incorrect insertion of an IC card. Furthermore, the means provided by the present invention include:
In the above-mentioned IC card reader/writer device, the instruction means includes two contact portions provided on the casing of the IC card and a conductor connecting the contact portions, and the erroneous insertion detection means includes the It consists of a signal output section provided at a position corresponding to one position of the contact section when the card is correctly inserted, a signal input section and a continuity detection section provided at the other position of the contact section, and the display The means is a light emitting element, and when the IC card is inserted, the signal output section
An electrical signal is sent toward the C card, and the continuity detection section checks whether the signal input section is receiving the electrical signal and is at L. If the signal input section is receiving the electrical signal, it is determined that the light emitting element has been inserted correctly. It is characterized by lighting up. <<Example>> Next, the present invention will be explained with reference to an example. FIG. 1 is a schematic diagram showing an embodiment of the present invention. The IC card 11 has a built-in integrated circuit for storing data in a non-conductive casing, and the contacts 12 are an interface section for exchanging data. The IC card 11 also has a contact portion 13 .
14 are provided, and these two contact parts 13 and 14 are connected by a conductor 15. The operation of this embodiment will be explained below. When the IC card 11 is inserted correctly, the IC card 11
The positional relationship between the signal output section 16 and the signal input section 17 is as shown in this figure. Here, the signal output section 16 contacts the contact section 13 and outputs a signal, and the signal input section 17 contacts the contact section 14 and receives the signal output from the signal output section 16. The continuity detection unit 18 detects the conduction Wi state by transmitting a signal from the signal output M16 to the signal input unit l7,
Recognize that the IC card 11 is correctly inserted. Then, the continuity detection unit 18 lights up the light emitting element 19 and tells the operator that the I. The IC card 11 is notified that the IC card 11 has been inserted correctly, the read/write control unit 20 is notified that the IC card 1l has been correctly inserted, and the read/write control unit 2
0 reads data from or writes data to the IC card 11 through the contact 12. On the other hand, if the IC card 11 is incorrectly inserted, the contact portion 13 and the signal output portion 16 and the contact portion 14 and the signal input portion l7 are in a positional relationship in which they cannot come into contact, and the continuity detection portion 18 detects a conduction state. Since the IC card 11 cannot be read or written, it turns out that the IC card 11 has been inserted incorrectly, and the read/write control unit 20
Since the contacts 12 of the card 11 are not accessed, the integrated circuit built into the IC card 11 will not be destroyed. If the IC card 11 is inserted incorrectly in this way, it is sufficient to return the IC card 11 to the operator and request reinsertion. In this embodiment, the contact portion 13 provided on the IC card 11.
14 are located at both ends of the IC card 11 body,
Any position is fine as long as it can detect incorrect insertion such as reverse insertion. (Effects of the Invention) As explained in detail above, the present invention provides an IC card with a conductor portion connecting two points of the case, and when the IC card is inserted, the conductor portion connects the two points of the IC card. Misinsertion of an IC card can be detected by checking continuity. Misinsertion of an IC card may cause the contacts of the IC card and the head part that reads or writes data to become misaligned, causing the integrated circuit inside the IC card to become damaged. This has the effect of preventing damage caused by abnormal current.
