Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an infrared rays dummy target device, capable of being stored into a small space, low in cost and capable of being thrown away, by a method wherein a polyethylene bag, postured so that the opening of the bag is faced downward and air therein is heated from the opening by a burner, is fixed to a ship or a raft, to which a radar target is attached, as an infrared rays radiating body. CONSTITUTION:A target for an infrared guided missile is made by a method wherein air in a bag 22, made of a material having good infrared rays permeating coefficient such as polyethylene or the like and whose opening is faced downward, is heated by a burner 25 while applying the theory of thermal balloon to inflate the bag 22 by the effect of inflation of heated air and secure a predetermined surface area whereby ascending force is obtained through a temperature difference between the surface of the bag and a background which is generated by the overheated air. A device in the same degree as the thermal balloon is employed as an infrared rays radiating body in such a manner whereby only the part of the balloon is to be replaced when the missile has impacted it. Further, the device may be manufactured inexpensively and the balloon may be folded when it is not used whereby an infrared rays dummy target device, prominent in operability, may be obtained.

Next, the operation will be explained. In Figure 3. In the case of a target used at sea, the output of the heating burner (11) is controlled by the temperature control device (14) so that the temperature difference between the seawater temperature and the infrared radiator becomes a predetermined value. In addition, in order to reduce the temperature distribution of the infrared radiator (2), a heating duct (l

[Problem to be solved by the invention] Since the conventional infrared simulating target device is configured as described above, when a dummy flying object without explosives hits an infrared emitter, it is difficult to repair the damaged part. Cannot be reused immediately. Also. If the ship were to hit the hull, there was a risk of it sinking.

As shown in Figure 1, this invention applies the principle of hot air balloons, and is made of a material with good infrared transmittance such as polyethylene.
The internal air of the bag (22) with the opening facing downward is heated by a burner (25), and the bag (22) is heated by the expansion action of the heated air.
2) Inflate the bag to secure a predetermined surface area; 2) The temperature difference between the bag surface and the background generated by the superheated air makes it a target for infrared guided missiles.
