In a thermal line printer in which a cassette containing an ink sheet supply roll and a take-up roll is removably attached to a fixed part of the machine body, two cassettes are installed at positions on the fixed part opposite to the supply roll axis and the take-up roll axis, respectively. A holding shaft is provided for holding the shaft, and a clutch member is provided that connects and disconnects these holding shafts with the supply roll shaft and the take-up roll shaft, and the clutch member is connected in accordance with the movement of the movable part of the machine body relative to the fixed part. 1.
