Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the subject modified fiber maintaining the effects of a cyclodextrin-based compound and a modifier for a long period by adding a swelling liquid containing the cyclodextrin-based compound or the above- mentioned encapsulated modifier to an undrawn polyester fiber and carrying out drawing in a swollen state. CONSTITUTION:An undrawn polyester fiber (preferably within 0.005-0.06 birefringence) is swollen by adding a swelling liquid (e.g. dimenthylformamide) containing a cyclodextrin-based compound or a cyclodextrin-based compound encapsulated a modifier (e.g. aromatic, moisture absorbent or insect repellent) to the undrawn fiber and the above-mentioned compound is penetrated into the inner part of the fiber without heating followed by drawing of the fiber. The concentration of the swelling agent in the swelling liquid is preferably >=10wt.% and the content thereof in the fiber is preferably >=5wt.%. In addition, the content of the cyclodextrin-based compound is preferably >=0.001wt.%.

(Prior technology) Cyclodextrin compounds obtained by decomposing starch and enzymes have a structure in which molecules are linked in a ring.
It is known that it has an excellent function of incorporating various components into its ring, or temporarily incorporating various components and gradually releasing them to the outside. Taking advantage of this property, it is used to mask specific odors, and as a carrier for fragrances, pest repellents, etc.

If a cyclodextrin compound is added to a composite fiber such as polyester fiber. It can be used in a wide range of applications as it can be given various performances. However, since cyclodextrin compounds are sensitive to heat, it is difficult to incorporate them into the inside of the fibers produced by melt spinning, and if they are simply attached to the fiber surface, they will easily peel off, resulting in the cyclodextrin compound as described above. The drawback is that the effects of dextrin-based compounds do not last long.

(Means for Solving the Problems) The present inventors have made extensive studies to infiltrate a cyclodextrin compound into the interior of polyester fibers without applying heat. After treating undrawn polyester fibers with a swelling liquid containing a cyclodextrin compound. We have discovered that stretching is effective and have arrived at the present invention.

In other words. The present invention is characterized in that a swelling liquid containing a cyclodextrin compound or a cyclodextrin compound including a modifier is applied to undrawn polyester fibers to swell the undrawn fibers, and then the undrawn fibers are stretched. The gist of this paper is a method for producing modified polyester fibers.

In the present invention, what is the undrawn polyester fiber?
! Refractive index Δn 7! A range of l<0.005 to 0.060 is suitable. Birefringence is o. If it is less than oos, the swelling rate due to the swelling agent becomes too large, and the physical properties of the fibers are greatly deteriorated, which is not preferable. Also, the birefringence index is 0.
If it exceeds 060, it is not preferable because the fiber becomes difficult to swell and the cyclodextrin compound becomes difficult to penetrate inside the fiber.

For such swelling agents. A cyclodextrin compound or a cyclodextrin compound containing a modifier is dissolved and applied to the undrawn polyester fibers, but it should be dissolved at a temperature that does not decompose the cyclodextrin compound.

It is preferable that the undrawn fibers be swollen by 10% by volume or more by applying this liquid.Usually, when applying the liquid to the undrawn fibers, the swelling agent in the liquid should have a tenacity of 10% by weight or more. The amount applied is 5% by weight based on the undrawn fiber.
It is necessary to achieve the above. If the concentration of the swelling agent is less than 10% by weight or the amount of the swelling agent applied is less than 5% by weight, the cyclodextrin compound will be difficult to penetrate into the fibers, which is not preferable.

Next, the amount of cyclodextrin compound or cyclodextrin compound containing a modifier is to be applied. It is desirable that the amount is 0.001% by weight or more of the undrawn fibers. If this amount is too small, the effect of the cyclodextrin compound will not be fully exhibited.

Note that even if a swelling liquid is applied to unrolled Oki fibers, the swelling agent does not immediately penetrate into the fibers, so it is preferable to leave it for a while before stretching. It is best to leave it for about 2 to 12 hours.
