Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an innoxious deterging corrosion inhibitor having significant deterging and corrosion preventing effects and depositing no chemical component by incorporating glutamic acid or trimethylglycine and alkanolamine. CONSTITUTION:This deterging corrosion inhibitor contains glutamic acid and/or trimethylglycine and alkanolamine and is suitable for use as a detergent for a metal body machined by cutting or other method. The glutamic acid and/or trimethylglycine is a corrosion preventing component and the proper content is about 0.1-90 wt.%. The alkanolamine, e.g. monoethanolamine acts as a solvent and detergent and the pref. content is about 3-5 pts.wt. per 1 pt.wt. of the glutamic acid, etc. This deterging corrosion inhibitor may further contain a surfactant, a solvent and a defoaming agent besides the above-mentioned components. This inhibitor effectively removes cutting oil, shavings, etc., prevents corrosion over a long period of time and deposits no chemical component because no metallic salt is contained. It is innoxious and waste water is easily treated.

[Prior Art] A metal workpiece that has been subjected to metal processing such as cutting is then cleaned prior to being assembled or subjected to processing such as painting. The purpose of this cleaning treatment is to remove cutting oil, chips, etc. that adhere to the metal processing surface during the metal processing process. If a metal workpiece develops rust during the storage period after such cleaning treatment until the next process such as assembly or painting, it will have a negative effect on the next process and product quality. For this reason, when cleaning, it is necessary to perform rust prevention treatment temporarily, that is, at least during the storage period to prevent rust from forming. For this reason, cleaning agents used in the process of cleaning metal workpieces are required to have not only a cleaning effect but also a rust-preventing effect during the storage period.

[Function] In the cleaning prevention≦blue agent of the present invention, the alkanolamine functions not only as a solvent but also as a cleaning agent and exhibits an excellent cleaning effect. On the other hand, glutamic acid or trimethylglycine acts as a rust inhibitor, but in this case, glutamic acid becomes an amine salt with alkanolamine and becomes water-soluble. Furthermore, trimethylglycine is water-soluble as it is. Therefore, by blending alkanolamine with glutamic acid and/or trimethylglycine, a good detergent and rust preventive agent in the form of an aqueous solution can be provided.

The antirust action mechanism of glutamic acid or trimethylglycine is as follows. That is, the amino group and carboxyl group contained in glutamic acid and trimethylglycine each have a lone pair of electrons. When this lone pair of electrons coordinates with the metal, an adsorption layer of glutamic acid or trimethylglycine is formed on the metal surface. Thus, the formed adsorption layer prevents the elution of metal ions from the metal surface and protects the metal surface from rusting.
