持体に形成された静電潜像を現像する現像剤担持
体を備えた現像装置において、 上記マグネツト部材は、潜像担持体に対向する
磁極が互いに相反発する一対の反発磁極から構成
されると共に、これら一対の反発磁極が、潜像担
持体の回転方向上流側に位置する反発磁極の磁力
をA、潜像担持体の回転方向下流側に位置する反
発磁極の磁力をBとした場合、A〈Bの関係にあ
ることを特徴とする現像装置。 (2) 潜像担持体と、この潜像担持体上に複数の
潜像を形成する潜像形成手段と、上記複数の潜像
をトナーにより可視像化する複数の現像手段と、
潜像担持体上の複数のトナー像を記録シートに一
括転写する転写手段を備えた画像形成装置におい
て、 少なくとも二段目以降の現像手段は、複数の磁
極を配列してなるマグネツト部材が内部に設けら
れ、上記潜像担持体との間にトナー及び磁性キヤ
リアからなる二成分現像剤の磁気ブラシが形成さ
れる現像剤担持体を備え、且つ、上記マグネツト
部材は、潜像担持体に対向する磁極が互いに相反
発する一対の反発磁極から構成されると共に、こ
れら一対の反発磁極が、潜像担持体の回転方向上
流側に位置する反発磁極の磁力をA、潜像担持体
の回転方向下流側に位置する反発磁極の磁力をB
とした場合、A〈Bの関係にあることを特徴とす
る画像形成装置。 (3) 潜像担持体に対向するマグネツト部材の磁
極は、希土類磁石により構成されていることを特
