コンバータにおいて、前記メタル担体触媒の外周
に外筒を設けるとともに、該外筒の端部を前記メ
タル担体触媒の端部を越えて軸方向に延出させる
か、もしくは該外筒の一部を径方向に膨出させる
ことによつて、前記メタル担体触媒の外周部とは
直接接触しない非接触部を前記外筒に形成し、前
記非接触部において前記外筒と前記ケースとを溶
接することにより前記ケース内に前記メタル担体
触媒を保持固定することを特徴とする触媒コンバ
