Abstract

PURPOSE: To condition fabric articles by inserting a substrate article containing a flexible substrate having water absorbing ability greater than a specified value and the fabric articles into a flexible container and tumbling the flexible container within a laundry dryer. CONSTITUTION: This method for conditioning fabrics in a laundry dryer comprises the steps of: inserting into a flexible container (e.g. a heat resistant plastic bag) articles to be treated obtained by impregnating preferably substrate articles containing a flexible sheet substrate having water absorbing ability of 1.0<= especially of 2.5<= and <=7.5, especially preferably a filter paper substrate with a solvent such as terpene, pinene and volatile silicone or a perfume components; closing the container; and tumbling the container in the laundry dryer to condition the fabrics, to effectively remove soiled things and to get good cleaning results. By allowing the fabrics to absorb the perfume component, the fabrics can be effectively given fragrance.

Place the fabric to be cleaned and a sawdust vehicle (ssvd+sl vehicle) impregnated with cleaning agent into a bag;
U.S. Pat. No. 3.43 discloses cleaning fabric articles by sealing the bag and rotating the bag in a hot air tumbler.
No. 2.253 (DIXON) l: tL tail showing the model. A similar cleaning system using gasoline as the cleaning material is disclosed in U.S. Pat. No. 1.747.324 (SAVITT).
There is a need to disclose. However, the use of sawdust as a vehicle for cleaning materials has the disadvantage that, after cleaning, it is often necessary to subject the fabric article to a second drying cycle without the bag to remove the sawdust material. Additionally, fabric items are sometimes dyed due to migration of dye from sawdust under rotary dryer conditions. The use of sawdust can also impart an unpleasant odor to textiles treated with it.

To further improve the cleaning effect, the substrate may be impregnated with one or more cleaning materials. Although these cleaning materials may be aqueous cleaning materials, the use of non-aqueous "dry-cleaning" solvents is particularly preferred. Suitable solvents of this type include alcohols such as phenyl alcohol, phenylpropyl alcohol, benzyl alcohol, terpineol and propylene glycol, as well as terpenes,
Other solvents such as pinene, silicone, tetrachloroethylene, benzyl benzoate, diethyl phthalate, alkyl citrates and alkyl myristates may be mentioned. Particular preference is given to using terpenes, pinenes and volatile silicones.

After placing the fabric product and the base article in a flexible container, the container is sealed. If the flexible container is sealed, the container should have one or more small openings, as long as the container is small enough to prevent the fabric and substrate from popping out during rotation of the flexible container in a laundry dryer. There may be. When a volatile material is used in combination with a substrate, it is often preferred to completely seal the flexible container to prevent escape of the volatile material from the container during further use.

The flexible container used in the method of the invention is preferably an air impermeable bag, such as a heat resistant plastic bag. The size of the bag is not critical, but it is preferable to use a bag that has an internal volume that is larger than the volume of the fabric to be treated. In use, the bag containing the fabric article and substrate is sealed, preferably so that some amount of air is trapped within the bag to facilitate rotation within the dryer.

After removing the cloth from the bag, there was a considerable amount of sawdust attached to the cloth, and the cloth was dyed due to the transfer of dye from the sawdust to the cloth.
