Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency of snow melt and to improve stability and durability by employing a snow melting block in which a rodform heater, formed by covering a carbon heat generating substance having a flexible core with resin for insulation, is bent and arranged in a zigzagging state in the snow melt block. CONSTITUTION:A carbon heat generating substance 3 having a flexible and insulating core 2 located in the central part and formed of carbon powder and thermoplastic resin is covered with an insulating layer 4 of thermoplastic resin to form a rodform heater 1, which is bent in a block 6. The snow melt block 6 made of mortar or concrete in which the rodform heater is arranged in a zigzagging state is formed. Since the core material 2 filled carbon heater 1 is used, even when it is bent, void is produced to prevent the occurrence of disconnection. By arranging the heater 1 in a zigzagging state, the heater can be comparatively uniformly distributed in the block 6, and heat from the heater 1 can be uniformly emitted to the surface of the block 6.

To prevent or remove snow from accumulating on roads, parking lots, etc. It is known to lay down snow melting blocks with heaters embedded inside them (Japanese Utility Model Publication No. 50-32274). In addition, the present inventor first proposed a snow melting block using a carbon heating element as a heater, as disclosed in Japanese Utility Model Application Publication No. 63-65704. Carbon heating elements are made by kneading carbon powder and thermoplastic resin. Since the resin has the characteristic that when the temperature rises, the resin expands and the resistance increases, so it has the effect of automatically controlling the temperature. however. This had the problem that when it was bent, voids were generated and wires were easily broken in parts. Therefore, it was difficult to uniformly heat the surface of the snow melting block.

The present invention is a rod-shaped heater in which a block has a flexible and insulating core material in the center, and a carbon heating element formed by kneading carbon powder and a thermoplastic resin is insulated and coated with resin. This is a snow melting block that is characterized by being bent and arranged in a meandering manner.

Since a carbon heater with a core material is used as the heater, there is no possibility of forming voids or breaking the wire even when the heater is bent. Therefore, by bending the heater and arranging it in a meandering manner, it is possible to distribute the snow relatively evenly on the snow melting block. This allows the heat from the heater to be evenly dissipated onto the surface of the snow melting block.

below. The present invention will be explained in detail with reference to the drawings. Figure 1 is a sectional view of one example of a heater used in the snow melting block of the present invention. l is the entire heater. 2 is a core material, 3 is a carbon heating element, and 4 is an insulating layer. The core material 2 is preferably made of a flexible material such as resin, and has a melting point higher than that of the resin kneaded into the carbon heating element. It is preferable that the core material exhibits flexibility at room temperature, but it may also exhibit flexibility at the temperature at which the heater generates heat. The shape of the core material 2 may be not only circular but also square in cross section. The core material 2 may be a single wire or a double wire, but
Single wire is preferred. The insulating layer 4 is made of thermoplastic resin.
The material should not melt at the heat generation temperature of this heater, but can be bent at higher temperatures. Core material 2 and insulation layer 4
Suitable materials include polypropylene and the like.

The snow melting block of the present invention has a main body made of mortar or concrete, and has reinforcing materials, a heater, etc. inside. The surface is colored mortar to create a beautiful appearance as surface mortar N7. It is good to provide various patterns. Moreover, even if the entire hardened body 8 is made of the same material, the upper part is covered with mortar. The lower part may be made of two or more materials, such as concrete. Although the shape of the cured body 8 is not particularly limited, it is preferable that the cross section of the lower part of the block is smaller than that of the surface, as shown in the example. With this structure, when multiple snow-melting blocks are laid out, there will be a gap at the bottom, allowing electrical cables to run through.
