Abstract

PURPOSE:To effectively prevent the replenishment of a used cartridge from being mistakenly detected by bending a bondable claw, which is fitted to the toner cartridge, after the bondable claw presses a switch detecting the frequency of toner replenishment. CONSTITUTION:The projecting claw 1 is fitted to the junction part of the toner cartridge 3, where it is joined to the main body 5 of a device. When the toner cartridge 3 is inserted into the developing system 4 of the main body 5 of the device so that they are joined together, the tip of the claw 1 presses the detection switch 2 fitted to the main body 5 of the device. The detection switch 2 detects, by means of the pressure, that the toner cartridge 3 is inserted and toner replenishment is completed, and then sends a detection output to a counting circuit. Because the claw 1 is a bondable structure, it is bent by means of the pressure; even if the used cartridge 3 is inserted again into the main body 5 of the device, the detection switch 2 is not pressed. This prevents erroneous detection.

BACKGROUND ART In this type of printing apparatus, the lifespan of a developing device is detected by detecting the number of toner replenishments. Conventionally, the method for detecting the number of times of toner replenishment is to press a detection switch when the toner cartridge is inserted into the main body, and count the number of times this detection switch is pressed. There is something that detects the number of times.

In this case, a protruding claw member for suppressing the detection switch is attached to the joint portion of the toner cartridge with the main body, and the number of times the detection switch is suppressed by the protruding claw member is counted. For this reason, even if a used toner cartridge is used, the detection switch is pressed by the protruding claw member and detected, resulting in an erroneous detection.

According to the present invention, there is provided a toner replenishment number detection structure in an electrophotographic printing apparatus configured to detect the number of toner replenishment times by pressing a detection switch for detecting the number of toner replenishment. The toner cartridge for replenishing toner has a diffraction claw member attached to the joint with the main body, so that the foldable member presses the detection switch when the car 1 to the cartridge are joined to the main body. Accordingly, there is obtained a toner replenishment frequency detection mechanism characterized in that the diffraction claw member is breakable.

At this time, since the claw 1 has a diffraction claw structure, it becomes clear that the toner cartridge 3 is used if it is set in advance so that it will break due to the pressing force caused by contact with the detection switch 2. Thereafter, even if this used cartridge 3 is reinserted into the main body 5 of the apparatus, the detection switch 2 will not be pressed.
