Abstract

PURPOSE:To attain a measurement with excellent reproducibility by using a microphone installed in a conductive tube to detect a response sound in an electromagnetic shielding box and allowing a test personnel to confirm the presence of a replay of a radio receiver depending on a display by a personnel at the outside of the box. CONSTITUTION:When a radio receiver 1 receives a radio wave with a level over an electric field intensity offering the indication of sensitivity, the receiver 1 generates a reply sound as the reception replay. The replay tone reaches a microphone 8 installed in a conductive tube 7 passing through one side face of an electromagnetic shield box 2 whose directivity is directed in the inside of the electromagnetic shielding box 2, is converted into an electric signal and the electric signal is sent to a display means 9 installed at the outside of the electromagnetic shielding box 2. A personnel 12 adjusts an output level of a signal generator 11 depending on the presence of the display of the display means 9 to apply sensitivity measurement of the radio receiver 1. An external noise or a noise generated by an encoder 10 and the signal generator 11 in the measurement system are interrupted by the electromagnetic shielding box 2 and does not give any effect on the radio receiver 1 being an object to be measured. Thus, the measurement with excellent reproducibility is attained.

An encoder 10 installed outside the electromagnetic shielding box 2 generates an encoded signal, which modulates the signal generator 11 and supplies it to the external connector 5. The high frequency signal supplied to the external connector 5 is sent to the transmitting antenna 3 via a coaxial cable 6. The signals that cannot be sent are transmitted as radio waves by the transmitting antenna 3, and the radio receiver 1 receives the radio waves. When the radio receiver 1 receives a radio wave having a level equal to or higher than the electric field strength for which the radio receiver 1 is sensitive, it generates a response sound as a reception response.

By the way, the noise generated by the encoder 10 and signal generator 11 in the measurement system and external noise are blocked by the electromagnetic shielding box 2 and have no effect on the wireless receiver 1, which is the object to be measured. Since the noise generated when an electric signal flows through the conductive tube 7 is also attenuated by the conductive tube 7, it does not have any effect on the wireless receiver 1, which is the object to be measured.

According to "Analytical Noise Mechanism" (written by Takao Mazashi, published by CQ Publishing), in this case, fc (Hz) = 1-' -...■ is the cutoff frequency, and 1...■ 5 (dB)- It has characteristics characterized by 31x, and is an attenuator at frequencies lower than fc. Therefore, when IGHz is set as the cutoff frequency, d=2.7C11, and in order to obtain an attenuation rate of 100 dB from equation (2), t=8.4C11.

In the portable wireless receiver sensitivity measurement method of the present invention, a microphone installed in a conductive tube detects the response sound inside the electromagnetic shielding box, and a person outside the electromagnetic shielding box uses a display to determine whether or not there is a response from the wireless receiver. This has the advantage that the electric field distribution inside the electromagnetic shielding box can be measured without disturbance by humans, and measurements can be performed with good reproducibility.

Furthermore, since the encoder and signal generator are installed outside the electromagnetic shielding box, not only external noise but also noise generated by the measurement system itself is blocked, making it possible to perform highly accurate sensitivity measurements. Furthermore, since the electromagnetic shielding box only needs to be large enough to accommodate the transmitting antenna, radio receiver, and conductive tube, it has the advantage of being extremely small and inexpensive.
