Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable a connector to be connected to a printed board no matter from which face of the board it is connected by providing conductive supporting edges within the opening of the board. CONSTITUTION:A pair of conductive supporting edges 2 and a housing 3 are disposed within an opening 6 provided through a printed board 1. Each of the supporting edges 2 is formed by bending one sheet of metal and consists of a horizontal piece portion 2a and upper and lower protruding piece portions 2b, 2c; the horizontal piece 2a is disposed on the parts-mounting face of the board 1 while its bent piece portion 2d at one end is inserted into the corresponding one of the holes 8 of the board 1 and is soldered to conductive foils on the reverse face of the board. At the center portion 3a of the housing 3 rectangular guiding walls 3b, 3c into which a connector 4 can be inserted are protrusively formed on the respective upper and lower faces of the housing; the housing 3 is then fitted into the opening 6 and fixed at the edge of its center portion 3a on the surface of the board 1. The center plate 3a is provided with slits 3d each of which allows the upper protruding piece portion 2b of each of the supporting edges 2 to pass therethrough. Then the connector 4 is inserted into the guiding wall 3b of the housing 3 from the upper face of the board 1 and is then connected to the upper protruding piece portion 2b of each of the supporting edges 2.

Therefore, it is possible to eliminate the problem that the conductive receiving blades protruding from the front and back sides interfere with handling of the printed circuit board.

In the connector device of claim (4), since the conductive receiving blade is fixed at both ends, the fixing strength of the conductive receiving blade is strong. Therefore, there is no need for a housing for supporting the connector, which has the effect of simplifying the structure.
