Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the surface of a contact from being stained by mounting an opening and closing member of a spring-pressing type which automatically restores to a position for covering an electrical connection part when a recording head is detached from a carriage and forcibly moved to a position for opening the electrical connection part when the head is attached to the carriage. CONSTITUTION:A recording head 6 detachably loaded on a carriage 5 in an electrical connection state is provided with an opening and closing member 15 of a spring-pressing type which automatically restores to a position for covering an electrical connection part 13 by a spring 16 when the recording head 6 is detached from the carriage 5 by being extracted upwards and forcibly moved to a position for opening the electrical connection part 13 when the head is attached to the carriage 5 by being pressed down from above. In this manner, in the recording head 6 of a disposable type detachable from the carriage 5, the contact 13 is automatically covered with the opening and closing member 15 when the recording head is detached. Thus, the surface of the contact can be prevented from the stain caused by the invasion of dust, the contact with fingers, or the like.

However, in conventional disposable recording heads of this type, the electrical connection parts (contacts) cannot be sealed because they are required to make sure contact with the contacts on the carriage side. , since it was installed in an open state to the outside, static electricity from the human body could be discharged through the electrodes, causing electrostatic damage to the circuit board, etc. Also, dirt could form on the surface of the contact area, resulting in poor contact. There were problems such as the reliability of contact tending to deteriorate.

As is clear from the above description, according to the present invention, in a recording head that is removably attached to a carriage and electrically coupled, when it is removed from the carriage, it automatically returns to a position covering the electrically coupled portion. A spring-biased opening/closing member that is forcibly moved to the position where the electrical connection is opened when attached to the carriage prevents the contact surface from getting dirty due to intrusion of chips or contact with fingers. Furthermore, a recording head can be obtained which can effectively protect against electrostatic damage caused by static electricity of the human body.
