[Detailed Description of the Invention] [Industrial Field of Application] The present invention relates to a weather strip that is attached along a window opening on the side of an automobile body and forms a seal by colliding with the periphery of the door glass of a sillless door.

In the automobile shown in FIG. 4, a window opening 1 on the side of the vehicle body has a gap between the window opening 1 and the periphery of the door glass 3 when the door glass 3 is closed. A weather strip 4 for sealing is attached.

is installed. The weather strip 4 is hollow and made of sponge rubber, and is held by the retainer 5 at a mounting base 41, with hollow parts 44, 45, 46 formed between the mounting base 41 and a series of seal walls 42, 43. . Note that 6 is a drip molding provided on the vehicle body and the upper edge of the window opening, and 7 is a trim attached to the lower edge of the window opening.

In the weather strip 4 having this structure, the door glass 3 rises at the position indicated by the dashed line, and when the upper end of the door glass 3 comes into contact with the interior side of the vehicle of the lower wall 43 of the weather strip 4, the reaction force of the weather strip 4 acts and the door glass 3 rises. It is pushed out of the vehicle and finally stops at the solid line position. At this time, since the lower wall portion 43 is pushed up by the door glass 3, tension acts on the outer wall portion 42, causing the wall portion 42 to curve downward, and its tip wraps onto the outer surface of the upper end of the door glass 3.

Incidentally, the larger the wrap distance H1 is, the better the sealing performance becomes. Therefore, if the outer wall portion 42 is further lengthened, when closing the door from the outside with the door glass 3 raised to the closed position, the outer wall portion 42
The upper end of the door glass 3 largely interferes with the tip of the door, and the door is closed with the weather strip 4 crushed from the outside. Therefore, with conventional weather strips, there is a limit to how large the lapping margin H1 can be.

[Purpose of the invention] Therefore, an object of the present invention is to provide a weather strip which can have a larger wrap distance to the door glass than the conventional one without making the outer wall part of the weather strip longer than the conventional one.

The weather strip of the present invention that achieves the above object is characterized in that the root portion of the outer wall of the seal wall containing the hollow portion, which connects to the mounting base, is made of a softer material than the other portions of the seal wall. do.

FIG. 1 shows an embodiment of the present invention, and the difference from the above-mentioned conventional weather strip will be explained mainly. The outer wall part 42 of the sponge rubber weather strip 4 has a base part connected to the mounting base part 41, which is different from the conventional one. A member 420 that is softer than the other parts, for example, is made of sponge rubber that is more foamed than the other parts.

In the weather strip of the present invention having the above structure, the door glass 3 first comes into contact with the weather strip 4 at the position indicated by the dashed line, receives a reaction force, is pushed outward from the vehicle, and finally stops at the position indicated by the solid line.

At this time, the upper end of the door glass 3 pushes up the lower wall 43 of the weather strip 4 from below.
Tension is applied to the outer wall portion 42, so that the outer wall portion 42 rotates toward the inside of the vehicle from a state in which it is in close contact with the flange portion 51 of the retainer 5, as shown by an arrow, with the soft member 420 as a base point. In this case, the outer wall portion 42 is not curved unlike the conventional one described above.
Therefore, the wrap distance H2 is larger than the conventional wrap distance H1 shown in FIG. That is, even if the outer wall portion 42 has the same length as the conventional one, the wrap margin can be increased.

As explained above, with the weather strip of the present invention, the seal wall whose tip wraps around the outer surface of the upper edge of the door glass can be made longer than conventional ones, allowing for a larger amount of wrap around the glass, improving sealing performance. urge Moreover, even when closing the door with the door glass at the upper limit position, the sealing wall does not interfere with the upper end of the door glass. Furthermore, since the soft portion formed at the base of the seal wall is in close contact with the retainer with good compatibility, the sealing performance at this portion is also good. Furthermore, since the seal wall is a soft member and is easily bent, the operating force required when closing the door can be reduced.
