Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent useless operations by standing by for recording when a lens is not mounted yet or it is incompletely mounted. CONSTITUTION:A microcomputer 6 outputs a control signal to circuits 8-10 based on switch information selected by a mode switch 4 and discriminates whether or not a lens 1 is already mounted in a prescribed position based on a signal from a detecting switch 2A. When the lens 1 is not fitted, the whole system stands by in a stop mode, and after the mounting of the lens 1 is completed, a picture-recordable condition is automatically obtained and it waits for a picture-recording start instruction. When the lens 1 is not mounted yet or imperfectly mounted, the picture-recording is inhibited like this, therefore, imperfect continuous photographing and the wasteful power consumption of a battery can be prevented.

If an exchange system is introduced into a video camera, for example, when recording is started without a lens attached or with a lens attached incorrectly, the tape will essentially be running blank, and the tape will have to be rewound and taken again. This not only results in missed photo opportunities, but also affects the amount of battery power consumed in continuous shooting.

Furthermore, in the case of a video camera using an optical finder, it is not possible to check the shooting status, so there is a problem in that the video camera continues to take out-of-focus images.

Reference numeral 8 denotes a video signal processing circuit of the camera section, which separates the signal from the imaging means 3 into, for example, a luminance signal and a color signal, based on a control signal from the microcomputer 6, and outputs the signals. Reference numeral 9 denotes a recording/playback video signal processing circuit which performs processing such as FM modulation on the output signal from the camera section video signal processing circuit 8 so that it can be recorded on the video tape loaded in the recorder 7. The reproduced video signal is subjected to processing such as FM demodulation on the reproduced video signal from the recorder 7 and outputted. Switching between recording and reproduction in this circuit 9 is performed based on a control signal from the microcomputer 6.
