Recently, it has been used for golf course greens because it has a characteristic and appearance similar to that of natural grass. In this case, the spike
In order to make the green feel as soft as natural grass when stepped on, European and American artificial grass golf courses use a method of laying plastic foam under the artificial grass. However, with this configuration, the ball does not bounce much and stops relatively well for so-called approach shots hit from a relatively short distance, but for long shots hit from a relatively far position such as tee ground or fairway, the ball stops relatively well. It has been pointed out that the ball bounces too much and does not stop as desired.

To provide an athletic field made of artificial grass containing sand, which is improved so as to be able to perform almost the same behavior as a green made of natural grass, and is particularly suitable for the green of a golf course.

It is characterized by interposing an elastic mat and filling the voids of the elastic mat with sand to a predetermined thickness, making use of the appropriate combination effect of the cushioning effect inherent in sand and the repulsion effect of the elastic mat. This aims to achieve the above objectives.

In this case, the base 1 may be a permeable structure made of chestnut stone, crushed stone, etc., or may be a non-permeable structure made of concrete, asphalt, etc. In addition, as long as the upper surface is formed smoothly, the base plate 1 may have a slight inclination. This base 1
An artificial lawn 2 is laid on the base 1, and the grains of the grass are filled with fine-grained sand 3. In this invention, prior to laying the artificial lawn 2, an elastic mat 4 is laid on the base 1. is placed. The elastic mat 4 is made of a bulky striated structure intertwined like loofah fibers. For example, by injecting gas into urethane foam and burning the gas, each membrane of the foam is melted and condensed. At the very least, it is possible to create tangled nylon by bundling nylon filaments formed by a gas flame burning method with a reticulated skeleton as shown in Figure 2, or by a melt-spinning method commercially available under the trade name Nylon Scrubber. It is preferable to use a plastic mat having a network skeleton structure such as loofah fibers by bonding the intersecting parts of the threads. FIG. 3 shows a modification of the elastic mat 4 in which the latter net-like skeleton structure 5 is integrally implanted on a sponge-like substrate 6. Furthermore, as the elastic mat 4, it is also possible to use a material made of thin metal wires intertwined in a bulky manner, such as a wire scrubber.

It is designed to provide an appropriate combination effect with repulsion. Therefore, when applied to the green of a golf course, by adjusting the amount of sand filled into the voids of the elastic mat 4, the bounce characteristics of the golf ball can be easily approximated to those of natural grass. In addition, since the sand is filled in the voids of the elastic mat 4, there is no risk of the sand flowing due to tread pressure, and no footprints will be left on the surface of the artificial lawn 2.

The sand 3 to be filled into the artificial lawn 2 and the sand to be filled into the voids of the elastic mat 4 are desirably fine silica sand of size 5 to 8.

The moderate combined effect of the elastic action of the filling and the elastic action of the pine and the cushioning action of the sand provides an athletic field that exhibits properties more closely resembling natural grass.
