Abstract

PURPOSE:To maintain the attractive appearance of a thermally sprayed layer through many years while obviating the necessity of resin coating by applying peening treatment to a thermally sprayed layer formed on the surface of a base metal. CONSTITUTION:A thermally sprayed layer of metal is formed on the surface of a base metal of an exterior material, such as steel, for the purpose of improving attractive appearance and durability. Shot peening treatment is applied to the above thermally sprayed layer by using glass beads, etc., by which the porous thermally sprayed layer is sealed and the vicinity of the surface of the thermally sprayed layer is strengthened. Since the surface of the thermally sprayed layer is hardened by means of compaction by the above peening treatment and superior durability is provided, an exterior material free from deterioration in attractive appearance due to penetration of rainwater and sticking of soil can be formed.

<Prior art> For the purpose of improving the beauty or durability of Efsteria materials for various structures, gates, etc., a thermal spray layer made of another metal or alloy is attached to the outer surface of the base metal. There are many.

However, since the products currently in practical use are simply thermally sprayed with single G, the surface has many irregularities, and the sprayed layer usually contains a large amount of pores of 10 to 30%. As it is, it is hygroscopic and also easily attracts dirt. Therefore, if such moisture absorption and staining are to be avoided, the current practice is to further coat the sprayed layer with a resin or apply some kind of paint.

Here, the combination of base metal (including alloy) and thermal spraying material applied to its surface shall be such that they can be easily bonded to each other, as is commonly used, and if necessary, The thermal spray material may be made of two or three layers of different materials. In addition, prior to thermal spraying, the base metal surface may be roughened by blasting treatment, etc., if necessary.

(Function) In the method of the present invention, shot peening treatment using glass beads or the like is applied to the sprayed layer attached to the surface of the base metal by means such as gas spraying or plasma spraying, so that the sprayed layer near the surface of the sprayed layer is is strengthened by work hardening, and the porosity peculiar to the sprayed layer is improved and densified.

As another example, a release agent is applied to the upper surface of a steel (SS material) plate, and two aluminum sprayed layers, two nickel sprayed layers, and two bronze sprayed layers each are attached to the upper surface using the gas spraying method. Next, the top surface of each of the sprayed layers was subjected to shot peening using glass beads, each of the sprayed layers was peeled off from the steel plate, and thinner was dripped only on the sprayed layer to observe its hygroscopicity. As a result, although there were some differences depending on the material of the sprayed layer, in the case of materials that were not peened, the thinner was sucked into the sprayed layer almost at the same time as the thinner was dripped. Thinner remained in the peened sample for a considerable period of time, and the difference in hygroscopicity between the two was obvious.

<Effects of the Invention> As described above, according to the method of the present invention, the thermal sprayed layer on the base metal is consolidated and strengthened by peening treatment, so the surface is hardened, scratch-resistant, and pore-sealed. It is highly durable, and does not lose its beauty due to rainwater seeping in or getting dirty).

Therefore, for various parts that were conventionally used by applying a resin coach ink or the like on the outermost surface, the sprayed layer can be used without any coating, and Efsteria material with the desired metallic color can be used. Since it is hard to get scratched, it has the effect of maintaining its beauty for many years.
