ツドとフローテイングチエツク用ヘツドとを夫々
キヤリツジ・駆動モータから成る別々の走査機構
に取付け、先ずバニツシング用ヘツドを用いてデ
イスク媒体表面の突起物等を除去し、次いでチエ
ツク用ヘツドによる検査を行なつていた。この場
合、バニツシングとチエツクは磁気デイスク媒体
全域に渡り交互に繰返して行なわれ、チエツク中
に磁気ヘツドと磁気デイスク媒体との衝突が発生
すると、衝突発生箇所以外の媒体表面に対しても
再度バニツシンを行なうようにしていた。このた
め磁気デイスク1枚当りのフローテイングチエツ
クに長時間を要し、また、バニツシングしてから
チエツク迄の間にテスター内の塵埃等がデイスク
媒体の表面に付着し易いため、これらが媒体突起
の正確なチエツクの妨げとなる等の問題があつ
た。

時に行なうようにしたことを特徴とする。

発明の実施例 以下、本発明の一実施例を図面により説明す
る。第1図において、1はヘツド走査用のガイド

になるように設定する。ヘツドコアのスライダー

ツドと検査ヘツドを前記記録媒体の半径方向に移
動せしめることにより、突出物のバニツシングと
所定高さ以上の突出物の有無のチエツクを行い、
前記検査ヘツドにより所定高さ以上の突出物が検
出されたとき前記バニツシングヘツドおよび検査
ヘツドを当該トラツクの前後数トラツクを所定回
数往復移動せしめて追いバニツシユを行つた後、
所定高さ以上の突出物の有無を検査することを特
徴とする記録媒体の検査方法。
