[Detailed description of the invention] <Industrial application field> This invention irradiates light onto a manuscript, drawing, or other object to be read, and reflects patterns such as characters and figures drawn on the object. Alternatively, the present invention relates to an improvement of an optical reading device that discriminates and reads based on the intensity and amount of transmitted light.

<Prior art> As shown in FIGS. 3a and 3b, an optical reading device has a reading spot composed of a plurality of near-infrared light emitting diodes 3, 3, . A light source 10 of light a and visible light emitting diodes 8' and 8, which are light sources of visible spot lights c and d indicating the reading position, are mounted downward.
Below the light source 10 and the visible light emitting diodes 8', 8 are condensing lenses 7, 7, a transmission window 4, and on both sides there are photodiodes and others for receiving the spot light b reflected by the object to be read P. light receiving element 9,
9' are provided respectively. With this configuration,
A reading spot light a of near-infrared light emitted from a light source 10 is condensed by lenses 7 and 7', impinges on the object to be read P, and is reflected. The reflected spot light b is received by the light receiving elements 9, 9', and the light quantity of the spot light b is used to discriminate between white and black, and patterns such as characters and figures on the object P to be read are read.
Further, the visible spot lights c and d emitted from the visible light emitting diodes 8 and 8' are also focused by the lenses 7 and 7' and applied onto the object P to be read, similarly to the reading spot light a. Therefore, the visible spot lights c, d also become reflected lights and are received by the light receiving elements 9, 9';
Since this is not necessary for pattern reading, in order to prevent the reflected spot light b from the reading spot light a from being adversely affected and the reading accuracy to be reduced, the light receiving elements 9 and 9' are provided with visible light wavelengths. Either use a filter material that is unaffected, or pulse the reading spot light and use the light receiving elements 9,9'.
The reading spot light a and the reflected spot light b are not affected by the visible spot lights c and d by providing a tuning circuit that amplifies only the signal tuned to the pulse in the amplifier (not shown) and performing sampling. That's what I do.

<Problems to be solved by the invention> However, in the conventional optical reading device as described above, visible light emitting diodes 8', Since the emitted light color of No. 8 was a single color, the visible spot light may be difficult to see depending on the color of the ink drawn on the object P by printing or other means or the background color of the object P. It had the following drawback.

<Means for Solving the Problems> The optical reading device of the present invention is equipped with a multicolor light emitting diode as a light source for visible spot light, and a multicolor light emitting diode is provided as a light source for visible spot light. A switching means is provided for changing the color of light emitted from the color light emitting diode.

Here, for example, multicolor light emitting diodes 11,1
If the light emitting diode 14 of 1' is a red light emitting diode and the light emitting diode 15 is a green light emitting diode, when only the changeover switch 12 is turned ON, only the light emitting diode 14 emits light and the emitted light color becomes red, and the changeover switch 13 When only the light emitting diode 15 is turned ON, only the light emitting diode 15 emits light, and the emitted light color becomes green, and furthermore, both the changeover switches 12 and 1
When both 3 are turned on, the emitted light color becomes orange.
