[Detailed Description of the Invention] This invention relates to a trim cover for vehicle seats such as automobiles. More specifically, the present invention relates to a trim cover for a vehicle seat whose surface is provided with decorative wrinkles.

2. Description of the Related Art Trim covers that cover the seat surfaces of vehicles such as automobiles are often provided with wrinkled parts for the purpose of accentuating the appearance and giving a decorative effect. The conventional and common method for applying such wrinkles has been to hand-stitch the wrinkles to a trim cover made of cloth or a synthetic resin sheet. However, such hand-sewn creasing has the disadvantage that the wrinkles are not uniform due to individual differences in hand-sewing, and that it is technically difficult to sew, making it impossible to obtain a trim cover of good quality.

The present invention has been made in order to eliminate the conventional drawbacks as described above. That is, the present invention provides a bag-like folded part in the part of the trim cover where the decorative wrinkles are to be added, sews an elastic rubber thread along the tip of the folded part, and then sews a bag-like folded part along the folded end part along the longitudinal direction of the folded part. The gist is the structure of a trim cover for a vehicle that is sewn together. Hereinafter, the configuration of the present invention will be explained with reference to the embodiments shown in the drawings.

A bag-like folded part 3 is provided in a part of a trim cover 1 where wrinkles 2 are to be formed. A rubber cord 4 is sewn with a thread 5 along the folded end of the folded part 3. That is, in this example, since the rubber string 4 is used as the bobbin thread and the thread 5 is used as the upper thread, the sewing machine is sewn, so that the elastic string 4 is pulled with an appropriate tension and the neat wrinkles 2 are formed. In addition, the rubber cord 4 is sewn under tension.
It is preferable to temporarily fasten both ends to the fixed end of the trim cover 1 and then sew it. In the illustrated example, the elastic cord 4 is sewn to the outside of the bag at the folded portion 3, but it may also be sewn to the inside of the bag. In this case, the folded portion 3 is formed after the elastic cord 4 is sewn onto the trim cover 1 in a flat state.

Next, the bag is closed by sewing the vicinity of the proximal end of the folded portion 3 along the longitudinal direction of the wrinkle 2 to be provided as shown in FIG. This sewing may be done by hand sewing or machine sewing, and the pull member 7 is sewn together if necessary. This pulling member 7 is used to pull the wrinkled portion inward using a clip (not shown) or the like. When the stitching of the stitched portion 6 is completed, both ends of the trim cover 1 are unfixed. In this way, the trim cover 1 is pulled along the folded portion 3 by the tension of the rubber string 4, and the required uniform wrinkles 2 are obtained. Note that the stitching means of the stitching portion 6 is not limited to stitching with thread, and other means such as high frequency bonding may be used depending on the material of the trim cover 1.

The trim cover for a vehicle seat of the present invention is constructed as described above, and a bag-like folded portion is provided along the desired wrinkled portion, and the wrinkles are performed using the elasticity of the rubber string. Therefore, uniform decorative wrinkles can be obtained by simple processing, and the workability of trim cover processing is improved, and the appearance quality of the trim cover can be further improved.
